A war against itself brings many hidden tragedies and atrocities that must be kept hidden, lest the eyes tear and wear from the atmosphere it creates. But they must be shown, for those who committed them must be punished for an eternity that never ends in any way.

I guess I was expecting that the white elves were born different like from a different tree or different method of propagation. Seems like the author wants them to spawn from the same tree but the RNGods are the ones who will decide if you are white or dark for their species.

After this, I think the outcome for any newly born dark elves are pretty grim while the white elves were still holding the area. They might had practiced that myth of old spartan custom of rejecting weak children and leaving them somewhere in the wilderness.

Careful bud. Historical evidence points towards the germans as perpetuators. German ammo was used and the dead had documents with them from after the takeover by germany. Furthermore, randomly stumbling over anything at Katyn is pretty much impossible, if you imagine the ass end of nowhere that is Katyn. Something to take into further consideration also the admission in 1990, that was at the height of perestroika, when the leadership did everything to score browny points with the west.

In short: The version you told is likely bs. Doesn't have to, but it doesn't pass the smell test.

I've heard the German ammo bit, most chalk it up to Soviet's trying to fabricate plausible deniability.

Also what documents are you talking about? If you're talking about the German take over of Poland, Katyn is situated deep into Soviet annexed lands, there is simply no way the Germans advanced that far east.

Katyn is just one of many mass graves of the overall killings, only around 4,000 bodies were uncovered in that site, multiple more were found inside the USSR itself, do you mean to insinuate the Germans kept their Polish prisoners for nearly two years just so they can march into Russia during Barbarossa and kill them there?

I remember that the Silverroot Trees are revered by both Light and Dark Elves, and certain trees give birth to Light Elves, and others to Dark Elves (it's not clear if it's the type of Elves living nearby that determine which kind are birthed by the trees, or if the trees determine which type will live nearby).
And part of what the Light Elves did to the Dark Elves is that they cut and burned down all of the Silverroot Trees that birthed Dark Elves.

So not only have the Light Elves murdered all of the Dark Elves they could, and not only desecrated their souls so that they wander forever outside the cycle of reincarnation, but they also cut down all of the Silverroot Trees, their own sacred trees, that birth Dark Elves so that no Dark Elves can ever be born again.

Chapter 1 shows the Elfind Army butchering the Dark Elves of Dineru's village and cutting down the Silverroot Trees that birth Dark Elves.

After finishing the chapter: "...that's it?"

That wasn't exactly worth a trigger warning, I think. Sure, it was pretty messed up that the deceased dark elves didn't get a proper burial, but there wasn't anything triggering at all. Maybe I'm just too thick skinned to notice whatever the trigger was? Either way, it's good to see them get some justice, even if it's just a "this will happen much later" sort of deal.

Partially because the dark elves aren't foreigners. They didn't immigrate, they didn't change their homeland. Silver trees don't just crop up every few years.

Not only was this done to civilians, it was done with the full knowledge of exactly what they were doing to both the culture and souls of the dark elves. A focused, thorough malice aimed upon people they've lived with for generations.

You can't excuse this by necessity of war because not a single step of that massacre was required of them, not for victory nor for survival. They even threw away the stuff the dark elves had, too good for even greed. An evil so pure and decadent that even eliminating it is an emotional burden.

From page 30 of the previous chapter, it feels like it takes real skill to write 'Orksen' after continually writing 'Orcsen' numerous times prior to and afterwards. It's why I mentioned previously about the need of having master list of nouns for any given series -- especially one such as this that is so expansive with them (people, places, dates, objects...).

Yep. There was literally an entire city put to the sword a year ago in Sudan after it fell to rebels after a 2-and-a-half-year siege. It was so bad you could see pools of blood in satellite imagery....

When soldiers saw this kind of cruelty, they try to retaliate on the civilian population, so the dark elves here are really taking seriously his role at the vanguard.

This is likely a reference to the 1940 Katyn massacre: After the Soviet invasion of the Eastern half of Poland (while the Nazis took the Western half) over 20,000 Polish military and police officers, border guards, and intelligentsia were rounded up, executed and buried in mass graves by the NKVD.
It was actually discovered by the Nazi after they broke their Non-Aggression pact with the Soviets, and used it to discredit them after the Allied Powers reluctantly accepted them. The Soviets blamed the Nazis, and continued to deny being responsible until 1990, by which point they and later Russia go "Everyone involved is dead, so no further investigation or cases."
I've already noticed the White Elves uniforms look like the uniforms of the Russia Empire/Soviet Union, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's the direction they take.
