Yotsuyu was pretty cool these last few chapters. Nice to see her get to have her spotlight in stuff like this and show off more spider stuff. The web vomit is something, but better than the alternative location it could've spun from...

Winning with the power of friendship!

AND FIRE. QUITE A BIT OF FIRE.

Thanks for the chapter!
🔥F🔥I🔥R🔥E🔥

If fire doesn't work, you're not using enough!

(Renge would be so proud!)
All praise the cleansing fire. Hopefully she stays dead, but I won't get my hopes up until i see her burnt remains/ashes. Can you tell how much I hate this plant yokai, for the problems they have caused yet?

Important PSA for anyone routinely engaged in combat with giant web spinners of any kind: spider silk is not very flammable, despite depictions in media. It shrivels and contracts and then breaks down (and burns), but it's not a handy source of tinder.

Harmful misinformation like this leads to hundreds of unnecessary web-related fatalities every year. Report noncompliant media to the UN Commission on Human-Monster Interactions.

In practice, spider webs (and you're unlikely to encounter their silk in any other form) can burn well, but that's because they accumulate pollen, dust and other particles that do. One that has been around for some time is likely to catch fire rather easily.

I wonder why she is withering.
Well, it is just a dead human corpse (the woman Kanasaka killed) that the furutsubaki moved into. You'll see more about this next chapter. The flesh may finally be giving out, or the roots that the furutsubaki moved into the body might finally be withering since they haven't been in the soil in years now.

I kind of favor the second, since if the human flesh were gonna rot it would normally have done so years ago. Next chapter doesn't resolve why the withering either way, so it'll remain up in the air.
