I agree with @annie3 - the notes are VERY distracting to me, to the point that it's difficult to concentrate on the author's words because the notes keep interrupting. Unless it's pertinent (explaining cultural reference or a joke that's lost in translation) I'd really prefer if the notes were...
@Ambiguity18 To be fair, a lot of doctors do the same here. I believe recent studies show that at least half of them (in the USA, at least) overwork themselves so it's not that far of a leap to make.
@yannickq The maids probably don't expect her to eat it. At the very least, they should hope that she doesn't, because that's basically a death sentence for them. And just like @/thegiantpossum said, it's very easy to excuse why she didn't notice and ate it. I've done that a lot as well ^^'
