    Oishinbo - Vol. 14 Ch. 123 - Beer & Edamame

I'm both teetotal and I don't really like edamame. I don't know if that means I win or anything... LOL Seriously, about the only insight I could provide on this chapter is that I do know that a beer's head collapsing that way usually (at least in most bars) means the glass isn't as clean as it...

Oishinbo - Vol. 14 Ch. 122 - Delicacies of the Northern Sea

They’ve traveled plenty of times and will do so again. No, I think it was more they were just tired of having it. That’s a joke that happens dozens of times at the end of a chapter.

    Kaji Ryuusuke's Agenda - Vol. 2 Ch. 12 - Oh, My Son!

You're welcome. I wanted to read it, too.

Oishinbo - Vol. 14 Ch. 122 - Delicacies of the Northern Sea

Yeah, the place will need fumigated. However, I think the thing is meant to show that it's not really the kid's fault and that he did his job maintaining the kitchen as well as he could... Sometimes roaches just get in, no matter how clean your place is.

Oishinbo - Vol. 14 Ch. 122 - Delicacies of the Northern Sea

I actually love sea urchin, so I was very pleased that it finally got its spotlight chapter, although admittedly, I'm sure that since I'm in the United States, the only uni I've had likely came from southern California rather than Hokkaido given its very short shelf life.

    Kaji Ryuusuke's Agenda - Vol. 3 Ch. 17 - Ready For Anything

Kaji's going to prove that he's not perfect on this front.

    Oishinbo - Vol. 13 Ch. 121 - Garlic Power

I see. I know in the MLB, they were kind of loose with that as well (I’m old enough to remember Pittsburgh Pirates Manager Jim Leyland smoking cigarettes in the dugout), but I know they had medical staff and you’d think a player suffering long term stomach issues would’ve been seen by a doctor...

    Oishinbo - Vol. 10 Ch. 88 - A Distaste for Milk

I'm not Canadian, but when I was in elementary school, we had milk in plastic bags until I was in about the third grade. Opening them was always an adventure. Usually at least once a week someone would poke the straw in and the sumbitch would burst everywhere.

    Oishinbo - Vol. 13 Ch. 121 - Garlic Power

Yeah, seems like the dude believed that he needed to eat more raw garlic to acclimate his stomach, only, it doesn't work that way... I mean, I know this comic was drawn almost 40 years ago, but did professional baseball teams in Japan not have nutritionists and the like? You'd think they'd give...

    Oishinbo - Vol. 13 Ch. 121 - Garlic Power

Maybe Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Steve Blass should've eaten some garlic like this. Maybe it would've cured his case of the yips that caused him to retire. Anyway, that wraps up Volume 13 (Getting through the whale arc was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do). See you all for the...

    Oishinbo - Vol. 13 Ch. 120 - Abalone Feast

No, that’s not something that could be correct. As I’ve pointed out abalone has been eaten in California at least since the turn of the 20th century. In fact, it became so popular that restrictions had to be placed on them in the 90s because they were being caught to the point of extinction...

    Oishinbo - Vol. 13 Ch. 120 - Abalone Feast

I mentioned in a note that I found it odd that Koizumi would not have been able to have abalone here in the United States or in Europe. Fresh abalone had been harvested in California (I assume he was in California, since the only US location that Kariya seems to ever have any characters based is...

Oishinbo - Vol. 13 Ch. 119 - Cool Breeze of Somen

I had a tough time trying to figure out how to word it, because it's "Suzukaze Somen", which is "Cool Breeze"... "Cool Breeze Somen", didn't seem quite right... Also, yes, I know you doing the double take didn't have anything to do with that, but I thought it would be good to explain, anyway.

Oishinbo - Vol. 13 Ch. 119 - Cool Breeze of Somen

Yes, we really did just repeat a storyline that we did in the last volume... Only difference is it was noodles instead of oatmeal.

    Kaji Ryuusuke's Agenda - Vol. 2 Ch. 16 - Even Now... I Love You

When I started doing the TL, I did some research on it to get the context on the manga. In that research, I've discovered a few things about the future... I can tell you, the baby was aborted. There will be no future love child between Ryuusuke and Ayumi.

    Kaji Ryuusuke's Agenda - Vol. 2 Ch. 16 - Even Now... I Love You

It's not. In fact, she still has quite a big role to play, although it may surprise you exactly what that role is.

    Kaji Ryuusuke's Agenda - Vol. 2 Ch. 16 - Even Now... I Love You

That wraps up Volume 2... Finally Kaji's getting his political career going.

    Oishinbo - Vol. 13 Ch. 118 - Black Vinegar

I'm honestly not a big fan of vinegar at all. My late grandfather used to drink the vinegar in the pickle juice jar and in general yinzers (folks from around my neck of the woods, Pittsburgh, PA) love vinegar in their food. Hell, even the coleslaw on a Primanti's sandwich is vinegar rather than...
