@keialpha Its actually harder to work together and requires more party building when you can't stick together all the time. They need to do what they can and know each other while also being capable as a cell of any combination of members.
The shadow world seems to slot them in based on who they are. Romantica knows merchant business, Adjest is classic Knight commander material, Desir is a commoner by birth but was in the position to take up a strategist role. Arman is militia/normal soldier material for obvious reasons.
So they fall into the rolls most like themselves and the history they have. I assume if a shadow world was hostile it would be a higher ranked one due to the difficulty of completing such tasks without the optimal setting. The shadow world does not appear to be an "enemy" but more a mysterious natural phenomenon.
They could always meet before then if they could find eachother btw. The quest didn't allow them to meet only when it wanted them to. They simply took care of business because they had no way of finding the others. A way of communicating and finding eachother would be great and i recall potential foreshadowing to it earlier. I think he just hasn't gotten it done yet.
