i agree that the mage girl is the worst, the thing with the childhood friend might be just a one sided obsession from her, as the MC seems to avoid her, i dont think the father is absent i think the MC uses the money he makes on the side to make it seem like the father is still there to protect his moms feeling, i smell a lost little sister, maybe a miscarriage ending in a divorce ? we will see, its getting good.

I'm gonna make a prediction.

School council girl is MC's half sister, his dad is from a business family and arranged married to her mom and he's the illegitimate 1st born.

Explains the dad's absence, the money he sends that's enough to get his son a 1st class education/access to a prestigious school, and gives a reason for lopsided tension between them.

I wander... If the money sent by "dad" is actually the money MC won from rich kid... Seems like a legit plot point, but maybe I'm just overthinking, but it could be dad just left them, and MC providing them with money. Everything is possible with this manga being so weird lol

I mean the entire upper class bullying was because he kept winning against them in mahjong gambling.

Definitely mage girl’s in the wrong now but the best characters are ones who evolve from that.

So I’d just take this chapter as the author’s way of distancing her from her narcissism and giving her room to grow.

That seems to be the route this is going based on the raws.

Either way excited to see where she goes from now.

I think what makes this story fascinating is the chemistry of the whole cast is incredibly strong, and their interactions or new knowledge is not only fluid but feels logical.

Its sort of like a reverse of Dandandandan, while that manga also is enjoyable and has a good character chemistry it takes backseat for the grand set pieces of the action scenes. I suspect that it will stick with this sorta of "slice of absurd life" with no side missions or really any of the standard "arcs" that you see. A singular, fluid narrative of an ancient genie trying to become a little sister to japan's most interesting man.
