This manga is always so relaxing to read. I dread the day it's completed.

@kojiro481 If this manga was less realistic and more moe-ish, then I swear it would have been there. With some obligatory joke about politicians or capitalism.

Looks like Erika wasn't the only one worried with the seat change, but this pair ... Didn't expect a turbulence between them.

I guess it's time to explore the others respective arcs!!! Like the very small one for example.

Thanks for the update! If I'm not mistaken, did we just catch up with Japan?

First I just have to note how cute Ai is in that first panel.

Then - yeah - drama. Is it going to take a turn into shoujo ai? I really have no idea - I could see hiro taking it either direction. It'll be interesting anyway though.

That panel of Washiro's back was awesome.

And I like Togano already.

@Arlo Well, if he doesn't make this blonde a token lesbian or your typical tomboy's fangirl, then I personally think she will look like Akebi vol 2. Anyway, according to Baka Tsuki, Hiro has had two straight and one yuri romance in the past.

@tcof Before blonde drew her seat, tomboy had noticed girl behind her might be too small and might want to switch.
I think then tomboy was sad when blonde did get put next to her because she expected that she might have to move, thus not being able to be next to blonde.

@Tbaronv Judging by page 4, this was clearly an excuse to be able to change seats. Why else did they show us her sad face right after the blonde's reaction?

@superoniichan I'm saying that before that she was already planning to ask the teacher to switch and was sad because she was going to hurt blonde's feelings.
Then after when the girl didn't want to switch, tomboy seems relieved.

@Tbaronv Then what's the problem if this is the second time the tomboy doesn't want to sit next to the blonde? I can’t read the author’s thoughts and intentions, but it confuses me that at least in this chapter the emphasis was placed precisely on her reaction to the blonde and only then on the fact that she could obscure the view of someone.

@ SuperOniichan

That's one of the things with hiro - there's no telling how he's going to play this. We see the emotional content - blonde really wanted to sit next to tomboy (and her reaction when she drew that number was adorable), but tomboy is upset about... something. Maybe. It's sort of hard to tell, since she looks somber at best anyway.

It's possible that Tbaronv is right and she was awkward because she felt like she should switch with Togano and didn't really want to. That would provide some context for Usagihara's suggestion that they all switch. Or it's possible that blonde's interest in her is entirely platonic admiration and she's uncomfortable with it because she assumes wrongly that it's a romantic interest. Or it's possible that it is a romantic interest and that's the problem. And so on.

It's part of what I love about hiro's work - it unfolds realistically. Just like in the real world, we just see the surface play of emotions - the expressions and gestures and such - but we have to dig deeper to find out what it actually means.

And as I think about it, that's part of Komichi's magic - she's utterly guileless, so she honestly and straightforwardly tries to understand other people's feelings, and she sincerely cares about everyone, so they're willing (sooner or later) to open up to her. And getting the emotions out into the open means they can be dealt with, and if Komichi has her way about it, they're going to be dealt with in whatever way ensures that everybody comes out of it happy.

And I know that however it plays out, I'm going to enjoy it.

@Arlo Well, I could say that this is just an innocent reaction from a little girl who wants to sit next to her friend, but I also don't want to make too unfounded statements, especially when after that we only had one chapter. Anyway, I agree, I like how cute and realistic the emotions are shown here. Much refreshing compared to the cartoonishness of most CGDCTs. I used to read this manga to accidentally kill time, but now I even added it to follow to wait for further development.

At such moments, I understand why I did not want to return to fandom for a long time when I started watching anime and reading manga again. When you communicate with people and discuss content, you lose some intrigue and a feeling of unknown, where there is only you and the title. It's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just that the emotions become less intimate.

Nawashiro blatantly crushing on Washio (who appears to have cut her hair over the summer, probably found the old style hot or something) isn't exactly news you know. They also room together in the dorms and are in the same club so the ever-taciturn and no-nonsense Washio probably just doesn't attach any special significance to whether they're in adjancent seats on top of that or not.

And yeah Washio's default expression is basically a resting bitchface. I don't think we've ever seen her being actually *upset* about anything so far, she just looks vaguely pissed off all the time.
