I too would love for luna to be aro/ace but I've been disappointed by manga before so.. but fingers crossed.

The aro/ace stereotype of being more than friends with a specific friend is too real. My bet is Mai confessed first and Luna both didn't want to hurt her and wanted to give it a chance bc if not a friend who could she ever love? (aroace logic). I just hope she didn't lie to Mai telling her she loved her romantically too :/

That is a good point. I imagine she thought that if it was with the person she cared for the most she'd eventually fall in love. It was certainly wrong of her to do but I don't think she ever intended to hurt mc. You're prolly right that she looks and feels guilty for hurting mc.
