"Yeah, we faked you out on the last couple trials. Kind of." Well, okay....
Thanks for the chapter!
Thanks for the chapter!
I'm hoping that the dad doesn't return to Japan. It would be far more interesting if instead, his wife and daughter come to this fantasy world, with his unconscious body (that they'll have to steal from the hospital). They find a way to transfer Kenzo's soul back into his body and real Grace get's her body back. Then Kenzo, his wife, and daughter decide to live in this fantasy world. Kenzo continues being the world's best bureaucrat, but gets to do so working for the royal family. That would be such a cool ending, and much better, than the standard, everyone goes home ending. The advantage of this ending, is that no one has to lose their friend. Everyone has formed such close friendships with Kenzo. It would be sad if they never got to see each other again.and how close we are to the end of the story (that is dad returning home and Grace returning to her normal self)?
But there is tension and stake. Kenzo needs to find a way to transfer his soul back to his body on earth. We need to find out if the real Grace is still a villainess or has she reformed. I suspect that this will also be relevant to what kind of dragon Orion turns into. We know Kenzo has a good heart, but does the real Grace? The real Grace formed half of Orion.Mini-arcs like the dungeon or these trials just don't click as well as the day-to-day fluff to me. I suppose that's kinda the issue with a slice-of-life premise; there never was much tension or stakes to the whole thing (despite the rather serious implications the story didn't really treat any of it as too threatening) so this sorta "power level up" scenario just doesn't feel all that relevant; and the relationship between the heroines is by now fairly static anyway so not like a coop-mode challenge will do anything there either.
I am not gonna lie - this sounds like awesome ending indeed. And it would be quite the original one when it comes to villainess genre. Will the author actually do it or not remains to be seen...I'm hoping that the dad doesn't return to Japan. That's the premise. But, a) when has it ever been portrayed as a serious issue? For the most part (even his family) seems to be more on a vibe of curiosity and that it's all a bit of an adventure more than anything else. And b) there's not really any direct implication that this would help much in returning home in any case. Unlike the previous chapters with the teleportation, that for sure mattered. But there is tension and stake. Kenzo needs to find a way to transfer his soul back to his body on earth.
