Middle School is the absolute fucking worst. This felt so relatable to me, not because I necessarily dealt with the same issues (my own queer awakening happened later in life) but because middle school aged kids are the absolute worst combo of hormones, insecurity, and lashing out because of insecurities. It's amazing how much more chill people are as they get older, but those few years in middle school feel like they were awful if not traumatic for almost every single person I've talked to. Mine wasn't even that bad relatively, and it was still pretty shit.
So to me Saki imaging a terrible scenario and an enemy where one didn't exist feels incredibly real.
