I really like this "what if" story line because it delves much deeper into the game story and solves a lot of setting related questions that come up in the main novel, you can also see the growth of the author's writing.

maybe I am wrong but I don't remember them kicking him out or anything. The MC is working now so he lives alone outside. and about homo, in WN the parents know that Marie has that kind of playful personality from the start so maybe they already knew that it's not true. parents know their kids well anyway and just so you know they really really love Marie.

Yeah they know, but fallowed to trust her nevertheless. He had to be on his own "thanks" to her. Just about after his death they truly saw through her lies, making her confession rather meaningless but too late to make amendments.
