So, what was the cause of death? Septicemia?

It gets revealed in the final chapter, but spoilers ahead:

Basically we learn that it was the black plague. His legs have been hidden all this time but the shoes/wraps are removed and we see that his legs are completely black. It's called a witch's curse, but it was caused by the epidemic, essentially.

Kinda, he has done it a lot.
I think his real typecast is the subversion guy especially in his one shots. But he seems to prefer doing dark subversions for his longer series, I don't think it's a bad writing trope to be interested in doing but it can be exhausting. Look at M. Night his constant twist movies just became exhausting.
