All they need to finish this story off is having a bonus final chapter where Asahina finally comes back, tries to find him and runs into everyone grown up in the attempt, find out he's already dead(from crime or whatever, his path wasn't a good one), and she leaves a bento on his grave for him.

While the plot stumbled here and there, clumsy more than bad, taken as a whole it was pretty good. The ending was quite "good", if decidedly bittersweet and slightly uncertain.

A odd series that had some surprising dark topics, never really felt like it found its footing between wholesome and dark, but this is a sweeter ending than I expected after the early stuff. Knowing this has a Light novel makes me realize this is just an ad for that, especially with the whole hostess stuff that was never adressed by fmc. This is probably the best outcome we coulda hoped for.

They're outside of that age range (compulsory education in Japan ends after middle school) but... yeah. Best not dwell on that too much.

Somehow it manages to not be a disappointing ending but it really feels like the drama was too much for the own good of the series. The plot around food and self could have been done without the child prostitution and the shitty mother imo. Thanks for the ride tho !
