I'm more than assuming the antagonist will escape--no shot this dude isn't going to be a recurring villain, unless he's somehow a random low-/mid-tier mob taking orders from some higher entity, which would make him much more expendable.

But like @TL-Law said, saving the yokai takes priority. So.

There’s two big problems that could stop him from escaping. One is new guy only snuck into town because the Creepypastas, thanks to the aide of miasma seeping out of Behemoth’s body + Behemoth trying to leave the Spirit Realm, located & destroyed the barrier. Was said barrier immediately restored upon Tama, Fūma, and Ayame’s return? Or was it restored before Tama & Ayame followed after, and then regrouped with Tōjurō, Fūma, and Behemoth outside? Tama’s probably the one that controls the barrier, and assuming if it still holds even if a Creepypasta has gobbled her up.

As for the other problem, back in Chapter 13, Tama said she was waiting for “the others” to arrive, which is why she let Tōjurō & Behemoth take a break. These other Yōkai might appear in the exact moment the new guy tries to escape.

So far it doesn’t look like he’s got anymore tricks left. Barring Behemoth, he’s not even on the same combat level as Tōjurō, and Hóng Shé.

my god, this chapter was annoying as hell. The only thing the protagonist did was yell. Just goddamn do something, swing your sword or whatever.

To be fair, Tōjurō couldn’t just swing his sword whenever he wanted. He, Tama, Fūma, and Ayame were all understandably afraid of the possibility that they’d also be harming the Yōkai fused within the Creepypastas; the new guy knew this, and took great advantage of this fact. Meanwhile, Behemoth was evolving & recovering through most of this.

Tōjurō just needed an opening, and Behemoth gave him one. I agree with everyone, I hope this guy gets what’s coming to him (after his staff gets broken).
