It is possible that Areku might be a common raven, looking at the beak curvature and neck fuzz. That might explain the talking, as some wild ravens will imitate speech and trained ones have been known to talk, though it varies greatly with the individual bird (i.e. as to whether they feel like it or not
).
That said, the art more closely resembles a carrion crow, which I've not heard of speaking, although it, like corvids in general, are pretty dang smart.
