Tbh, I kinda hoped the knife guy would have a breakdown over the fact that his feelings of superiority he had due to his knife being trounced by MC not fearing him.
That would've been karmic.

Okay so he did kick this guy's ass easily.

Considering he already beat a traditional martial artist and a nutjob with a weapon, I assume the next opponent will either be properly trained AND armed, or an even bigger and more dangerous nutjob.

I guess even the author didn't want to give Akita an armed and dangerous opponent while he was exhausted and injured.

Well that was resolved quickly
Honestly? I prefer it that way. Knife Guy's whole stick was confidence put in his weapon's psychological effect on people who are scared of it; he didn't have any particularly great skill in using it. The very moment he faced any opponent who was willing to risk stabbing him to defeat him, he would likely lose, whatever it was, MC or some other psycho who takes part in this no rules tournament.

It's Ironic, but in the end, Knife Guy never really had the guts to stab a person. He was too hesitant to be passive after causing a minor injury and believed he already had the upper hand and won. A really experienced knife fighter would win already by taking the initiative.

No. One thing leads to another, this is a story.
Yeah, but going by Chekhov’s gun her crazy stabby fit should have contributed to MC beating this guy. But it didn’t he didn’t beat him with le iPhone flashlight like he stunned her. At most you could say it helped MC stay calm in front of the danger but the author tells you in the next page it’s not because of her going crazy with a knife. It’s because he’s grown used to fighting strong opponents with the odd stack against him.

Aaaaand you think she had no part in that? The narrative links being ever-so-slightly more subtle than a direct line does not mean that they don't exist. Her actions did and continue to contribute to his success.

Definitely overall but I think the weird knife attack wasn’t needed she’s beat his ass a bunch already he already puts her on a pedestal. I feel like if anything the mangaka is just gonna use this as quick means to separate them for a while at least I hope. If by some chance they make-up next chapter like nothing happened and write it off as her being “unpredictably violent” it’ll feel really cheap.

Part of that is her trying to stab him. I think you could also say it's his mixed feelings about running away that contributed to fighting this guy head on instead
