Changing/Updating Comment Section :planned:

First of all let me say that I am a new user of MD. As many others I used Kissmanga for years, after trying many different sites to 'fill the void' MD is without a doubt the one site I could call home after Kissmanga.

So I come with a feature suggestion regarding updating/changing the comment section or at least how it works currently.

I personally and Im sure many others enjoyed reading a chapter on kissmanga and scrolling down to read the top comments, often finding funny remarks that would make us laugh or even comments pointing out certain details that I may have missed or even people expressing their feelings and opinions on the chapter.

Obviously the same can be found in MD comment section already, however, the current way it works is a lot more time consuming and not quite as effective, especially on chapters with hundreds of comments and considering the growth of the site, im sure this will become an issue even more often now. Not only that but even quoting/replying to people is a bit of a mess currently.

One other addition that is Disqus specific but that I found myself enjoying over the years was the fact that when someone rwplied to one if my comments I would get an alert so I could go back and revisit the chapter and discussion instead of just commenting and forgetting about it forever. This often led to long and fun discussions about the manga, I think at the end of the day we all enjoy speaking about things we enjoy with people who share our opinion right?

What I propose would be either Disqus(Which I dont think would be the best option because it forces users to login to a 3rd party website to comment, although I would consider it a more organized and simpler way to filter comments and track older comments) or updating the already existing comment section and possibly adding an upvote system / filtering by top votes first instead of chronologically.

Also doing a properly reply layout sort of like disqus/reddit has is important to keep the comment section organized and easier to separate discussions/subjects. Also adding the notification if possible would be great.

Sorry for the long post but kissmanga was a website hard to replace but I already fell in love with MD only thing I really miss is the way how comment section worked in kissmanga

Our plans are to move on to XenForo. "Upvotes" are from the devil himself so I guarantee we're absolutely not implementing that, but we might have an emote reaction system like discord.

Marking as planned, though not in the way you present the suggestion.

And so, it begins.

But I'm in a good mood today thanks to this video. Have a

Out of all the suggestions for adding a like system, this one is probably the most well-written and thought out yet.

But yeah, Teasday already summarized my thoughts on the matter in their above post.

I'll at least give you this

since you put some actual thought and reasoning into your post, OP.

Suggestions like yours (as in, suggestions that genuinely attempt to improve the site) are always appreciated, so feel free to post again if you have any others.

Wow, take my like man. While it's true that it has its upside that you can comment on many websites with just one Disqus account, for those who don't use it much it's a tiresome task especially when you already log in MD. Not to mention Disqus is abit unstable, be it my country or the ISPs in my country being the cause.

Thanks for the feedback guys :) Glad you liked my suggestions and honestly the comment section is really the only downside I see in MD, everything else is perfect in my opinion.

Thanks! Yea I expected the Like / dislike system to have been something you never planned on adding as I know some people don't really like that, only reason I proposed it is just to make it easier to filter "quality" comments from "spammy/troll" comments, but migrating to xenforo in itself should definitely make it a lot better than it currently is. Thanks for listening to my suggestion :)
