I have been translating the series Luo Zhi Yongzhe. I had initially set it as Erotica, but it was changed to Pornographic and has been locked for editing. I was hoping to get a better understanding of why. I did some searching and found a more detailed descriptions of the ratings, but Pornographic still doesn't seem to fit. The most graphic aspects are:

1.Visible pubic hair
2.Man almost grabs a girl's boob
3.Monster smells a girl's naked body(including crotch)
4.Girls wets herself in fear

While the Content Ratings are defined as:

Safe - No obscene or vulgar depictions of the human body. e.g. no sex, nudity, provocative clothing, or ecchi scenes. (This is obviously not right)
Suggestive - Has minor to moderate amount of risqué and sensual elements. No explicit sex scenes, but can include minor nudity. (The tooltip on the edit page only says "Nudity but no sex". The specification to "MINOR nudity" would rule this out)
Erotica - Has a high amount of risqué and stimulating elements that contribute to the plot, including explicit nudity for sex scenes. The work is still focused on story, rather than pornography. (This seems to fit. The series has lots of nudity, but is also plot focused)
Pornographic - Having sexual intercourse as the main focus of the story with the purpose of sexually arousing the readers, typically published in porn magazines or stated as R-18 content. (The series contains no sex or visible genitals, unless pubic hair counts. It is marked R-18 on pixiv, but I think that's true for anything with nipples.)

I'm also not sure Sexual Violence is warranted. You could see someone grab a boob or an animal smell someone's crotch in almost any ecchi manga. The guy didn't even succeed at touching her boob in this.

I'd appreciate any help in understanding the ratings better and what aspect is believed to have pushed this series over the line into pornographic.

Thank you for your time

It seems like your point is that these should in fact be comparable and that either all of them or none of them should have the SV tag.
As far as I understand, "sexual violence" involves 1. violence that is 2. sexual in nature.
Previously you stated that the content rating titles should be ignored. Based on the definition for the tag set by mangadex, what other conclusion than all or nothing can I come to? I can only see three interpretations of "unwanted sexual act":

1. Any act committed that has a sexual element. (This would include most ecchi, and so I assumed was wrong)
2. Sexual means literally involving sex. So if genitals and orgasms were involved, but if didn't quite fit the definition of rape. (This seemed the only valid option to me. Especially since SV is often used to only include penetrative sex.)
3. The rules are inaccurate or incomplete. (It's not my place to assume the rules are wrong. If true, I don't think it is my fault and I don't deserve to be criticized.)

What other way could I possible interpret the rules set by mangadex, without adding or removing conditions, that would only include this series? It seems unfair to state you can't trust my tagging. I came asking for clarification on the rules when I encountered an issue. I advocate appealing to the rules until we have staff confirmation. When speaking with a staff member, instead of arguing for a specific outcome, I explained my reasoning in order to better facilitate correction. What have I done wrong?

What I don't understand is why someone would ever want the tag removed after it's already been applied.
The tag was added at the same time it was changed to pornographic, which I strongly feel is wrong. I think it's reasonable to question the addition of the SV tag, especially when the rules don't add up.

Almost a month has passed since the last chapter update. It seems like the OP is spending more time complaining about the tag instead of translating the next chapters.

Edit: There's wiggle room for the tag, which is fine with me, but others seem to want clear cut definitions for when it's applicable, which I don't agree with.

What I don't understand is why someone would ever want the tag removed after it's already been applied.
I can think of at least two scenarios: one, if the tag was inappropriately applied (ex. the pornographic tag in OP's manhua), and two, if a tag that is a better fit appears, then it should be appropriate to replace an SV tag with that better-fitting tag. But since there aren't any yet... <shrug>.

It has been almost two years since someone said they would redo Vol 1 of Higanjima - 48 Nichigo. It seems someone is spending more time posting snide remarks on other people's threads instead of redoing their scans.

That manga Luo Zhi Yongzhe has about six pages per chapter. It shouldn't take that long to finish one chapter. And why are you defending him for being slow with updates? Wouldn't someone logically want to read more chapters quickly? Are you his alt account or something?

And why are you personally attacking me? Higanjima - 48 Nichigo was the first manga I scanlated. Things have changed since then, and I've picked up many other projects. The problem is, I can't edit or delete my comments on the forum. And to think that you went through my comments on the forum, you must have a stalker tendency.

I doubt your contribution of snide remarks will make him release any faster. Are you his manager? Personal scanlation trainer? Life coach? Mother? No? Then what business of yours is his release cadence? The only thing you're doing here is poisoning and derailing the thread with unfounded assertions.

Oh did that hurt? Don't comment on other people's releases if you can't handle comments on your own.

It was not snide remarks; I didn't use any emojis in that comment. I was only stating the facts of the situation. For you to be offended instead seems strange to me. Perhaps you are his mother or something.

Oh excuse me, I was not aware that emoji use is required for a remark to classify as snide. It was an honest mistake your honor.

If it pleases the court; is it not a fact that someone, on the tenth day of the first month of the 2023rd year of our Lord, stated, and I quote "I will redo Vol 1 later"? And is it not a fact, that today, the twenty-fifth day of the seventh month of the following year, has been well past a year, going on two, since the uttering of said statement? Therefore is it not true therefore that all my utterances previously has been nothing more than statements of fact?

Furthermore, I would like to register my grievances toward the gentleman's unfounded claim of my taking offense; it is a grave slight on my person to assert that I could possibly be offended at such a low-class remark, when at best I was merely irked.

No, you've got 'the fact' wrong. I haven't been working on redoing it for two whole years. I've been focusing on other manga during this time. Also, I have stated that my comment about 'redoing it' is no longer valid. If you insist on your 'wild speculation,' that's your problem, not mine.

Golly, reading comprehension really isn't your thing, huh. I actually feel somewhat bad now. Let me use bullet points to make it easier for you. Please pay particular attention to the italicized parts, those traditionally represent emphasis:
  • Whether someone was working or not on the manga in question is irrelevant: the point stands that someone didn't do what they said they would after nearly two years.
  • If someone can retroactively invalidate their comment with no prior notice after nearly two years, to excuse their lack of releases without consequence -- as they should, since it's their own damn business and nobody else's -- then perhaps someone might find it in their deepest of hearts to extend the courtesy to other people, especially when it has only been less than a month since that other person's release.
  • Nowhere in this entertaining stream of posts were the words 'wild speculation' used before you applied them. To be specific, the words I used were "snide remarks", "unfounded claim", and "assert". Please take care to not erroneously claim I wrote something I did not, since that may lead to you being guilty of... wild speculation.
I sincerely hope this is clear enough for you to understand. Please feel free to ask if you need further clarification, or if there's a word or phrase that you need explained further to you. Have a nice day, and I hope you learned something.

Well I'm sorry too. It can't be easy going through life with that level of reading comprehension. I can only imagine the hardship you must have gone through to formulate your replies as coherently as you have; your decision to forgo the redoing of your scans now suddenly make much more sense.

I hope you can find a lifestyle that will allow you to live comfortably despite your unfortunate condition. Please take care.
