Kinda similar situation for me as well, though my parents can get along fine for Christmas dinners and stuff. It's just that them being together has never been as important as them not being in a bad mood because they can't get along living together. And them separating was always something I knew was for us kids to not have to deal with their friction. I've also never been that close to either of them, so there's that, too.

Kids are pretty perceptive. They can tell when two parents are acting nice on the surface but actually hate each other. That fucks them up too, and gives them a warped sense of what relationships should be like.

The LNs the manga is adapting, yeah. Supposed to be sometime this year but, AFAIK, nothing specific has been released as yet.
