My two cents on the mom: is she right to be suspicious of her son’s intentions when a random girl she doesn’t know shows up in her house, in his room, asleep with him in close proximity? Yes, it’s her home after all, she has a right to know about these things

Is it completely justified to think of her as an overbearing, semi-misandrist ass for questioning her son like a criminal, lecturing him on the dangers of being alone with a girl (who he’s been regularly meeting for two months with zero incident and even cleans up after themselves), and forcing her son to act like a stranger who can’t even be trusted to be in the same room with her? All while saying nothing to the girl in question?

Absolutely

I’m aware there’s a certain level of caution parents feel they need to make their kid aware of because “they know what it’s like to be a horny teenager” but maybe there’s a reason her son never mentioned to her that he made friends at school, and goes out of his way to freshen his room up so she doesn’t ask questions, despite the fact he seemingly hasn’t had friends over since elementary, if ever.

She has a right to be wary but maybe question why he didn’t feel comfortable telling you despite all the things he does to make preparing for work less hard on you.

In short, yes I think she’s a dick for doing what she did but I doubt it’ll matter in the long run.

I don't get why people are so hung up about the mother being responsible. I actually think this is annoying, my mom isn't like that btw but I never brought many girls 😭

Nah I think she's meant to be a classical bitter and controlling type of person it's hinted that the reason he doesn't have any friends is because she keeps moving for work she's also a single mom so there's that. I really don't care if people think I'm fucked for thinking poorly of this type of woman but it is what it is. I hope MC leaves home soon 🤞.

Which panel? Seriously? Nothing about her words and actions in that scene were "chill", and she was definitely coming across as half a step away from implying that her own son is a sexual predator not to be trusted alone with a female of the same age. I don't know anything about the source material, but guaranteed she is either divorced from a cheating husband or she's just a manhater in general.

If this doesn't scream "chill" to you, I don't know what does.
