For now I'm leaning towards that and assuming he's not with the human supremacist nation or involved in illegal activity because otherwise I would expect him to show concern at the appearance of the Ostrish beastkin. He's probably just happy that business activity will increase thanks to an influx of rare monster materials and a demand for food. The cooks he hired are from a diverse background too and he was hands on with bringing in the supplies so the shady vibes are probably just there to denote skillfulness as a merchant rather than actually being shady.

You will be surprised to know what his real job is.

You should be concerned about how much food they can give to the ostriches rather than how much their budget, because they are still hungry after the party is over

I'm more intrigued that Reisu would drop her guard so completely-- first time in a new place, everybody else is short-circuiting their (what little they have) brains on the best food of their lives as they're working their way towards food coma, she knows there's somebody around that even her OP senses can't pick up on, and yet she's chugging three kegs of liquor (for probably the first time in that body). It's good to get another one of the murder chickens' names. They're pretty easily distinguishable thanks to their hair(honestly surprised at how consistent the mangaka is with the hair, and eyelash for the girls), so I hope we get more of them named and see whatever different personalities they may have
