Once again I'm surprised by the turn of events. Really glad the Dad didn't lose and is just that strong and decided to end the fight not because the MC was stronger but because he's talented but not in an overpowered broken way. Too many stories have the MC be unreasonably powerful where nothing can actually stop him, sure he's the top student though not strong enough to beat a person who was also the top of his class. So he actually has room to grow still.

I appreciate the translation effort - the quality isn't that bad bad, but when you upload on a series that already have someone consistently uploading then people really will see the difference in quality.

You could try and look for a series that was dropped or have not been updated in quite a long time, and hopefully the practice, experience, and feedback you get from there will increase the quality of your work.

I was honestly really interested in the story of this book so I couldn’t wait for the next chapter to come out for my language, so I had the idea to just translate it myself and see what happens. I didn’t really think over uploading my first translations since I thought it would be only for fun, but I did it anyways to see what people thought about how well I translated them. At the start, I was waiting for someone to pick up this series and when it hit a year since the last release, I decided to look for a solution myself. I will continue to upload chapters unless the ideal situation happens: another scanlator picks up this series and the majority of readers prefer their uploads. As this does not yet seem to be the case, Chapter 28 and further are still on their way.

At the end of the day, it's the readers that get to decide what they read. If you want to continue uploading scans for this series go ahead, I don't mind.

I honestly don't care about the whole "sniping" thing. It seems a lot of scanlators forget that what they are doing is fundamentally a fan-translation. I'm not making money off of this, and I don't think anyone should have the expectation when scanlating that it's a profitable business. Unless a scanlator is contracted by the publisher or otherwise have legal rights to do so, it's a contribution to the community and no one owes the scanlator anything.

I'm happy to see the person who originally started uploading the scanlations to this series respond to my scanlation, it does seem like I still have a long way to go and I think this was a nice first take on my first time in the scanlator community, as I did expect some people are bothered by me posting my own scanlations instead of yours because I was a new guy in town.

I never intended to do whatever "sniping" was or meant and I never even knew the term in the first place as it was my first time ever doing a scanlation, I never knew this was a problem in the community, after all I only did this for fun because it looked like it was interesting to do these things but I never realized what the consequences would be to upload one of my own scanlations even though you were still technically still active on this series I thought it was normal for other scanlators to translate the same series as well.

In the end it was still fun to do, I still plan to keep going (probably not on this series), thank you for encouraging me to keep going!

There's a few lines that are blatantly wrong, like when MC jumps up into the air you had the dad say "I'm running" when it should be "you're!"
If you're using machine TL at all it will constantly fuck up adjectives and pronouns

I do put most of the machine translations into my own words and usually look at the panels to see what actions the characters are doing.

I thought that the dad was thinking about him getting ambushed by the MC from above right away, but instead the MC reloaded his magic, THEN attacked the dad. So you might be correct

To add to that - there always is a possibility that the group that got sniped will get fed up with the snipe and stop working, and as most of the snipes are like this - someone testing waters of how did they do, or something else resulting in only 1 or few chapters done and then no more - gives in the long run no more groups working on said title and it becoming abandoned.

So in my eyes - if you just did latest chapter cause you cant wait and wanted to get some opinions - give info in the chapter and in comments so that the "sniped" group can see easily that they can continue working, and like said above - try to look for a dead manga (aka one thats not worked by anyone) that you like. Preferably you would go directly to such mangas, to not snipe at all.

The snipes that I accept personally are on mangas that are done by "greedy" groups - that are often many chapters behind, cause the newest ones are behind paywalls. Worse ones where whoever does uploading often forgets to do so, or something and we get like up to a year of nothing being added to MD, while its up on the aggregator sites, as I prefer to read on one site and being forced to go to other sites is annoying . Thou with the DMCAs that "fuck up" a lot of mangas on MD - I am forced to do so anyway.

EDIT (after reading the snipe): Quality of everything part translation is fine. Translation itself is OKish. Supposedly was MTLed but fixed to make it proper, but it seems there are some "issues". Page 12 - Latos is mentioned as "him/his" by the dad, when he already talks about her as a girl not a guy - no issues before or after IIRC. Page 16 - I can't run... was already mentioned above. Few spots I think were a bit weird while reading like "Though I don't like the fact" on page 31, at least in my eyes "though I don't like that" would flow better? Just my 2 cents.
