You give me the vibes of people who berates Berk for the setting (rape and trauma) and completely ignore the story.

Forgot to mention Kodomo no Jikan, that manga deals with lots of heavy themes as well but it has less shock content and is more light hearted.

I like the art and the story overall, but fuckin hell the pacing and flow is janky as hell - It's like they looked at the template for Starting over from Zero and went, well it worked for them so lets start with ........child rape and mass murder! Yeah that sounds perfect, then we will switch gears to light comedy and grimdark revenge story every few panels, its genius! I think if it had gone all into the dark story or glossed over the bad ends early on It would be much more cohesive overall.

The way people talked about the first chapter, I was expecting 5 full-page spreads of overly cruel rape or something, but it's literally just 1 panel that also serves a purpose by heightening the guy's motivation for revenge. Grow some skin, jeez.

Yet Goblin's slayer show nothing and when the MC tell his story it feel way more impactfull...

seems like this coulda been the same plot without the reincarnation. Just have the prince grow to empathise with some human slaves. and the rape of that child in ch1 was totally unnecessary.

As of the latest chapters I honestly don't think that could even work, because from what's been seen demons are just incapable of feeling empathy towards other races, I think that's the MC needs to be reincarnated for the plot to even happen in the world of the manga

Let's put it this way: They're not being evil for the sake of it but their values are totally incompatible with that of humanity. They think power is everything and don't care about the suffering of 'lesser' races at all, even some of those that they rule, like goblins and orcs.

Yeah, as "edgy" as they make it - it's actually more REALISTIC than not. What do conquerors do? Rape and pillage. Torture their enemies. Experiment on their bodies. Use them as tools. This series mirrors the depravity that is reality, which is why I don't dislike this series, even though most similar ones are just edgelord bait. This presents things more realistically than not tbh. Even the way demons and their people are - humans literally had gladiator matches and quartered people - and no one batted an eye. They believed at one time the wives and daughters of their enemies were their spoils of war. Cruelty is learned behavior, and naturally a society like this isn't that weird in context.
