No extra page today. I’m just put this here because it feels much more relatable to many of us.

Ooofff, the mother is scarily convincing. After all, it’s not unreasonable to be unhappy that your daughter is planning to marry someone who can barely do anything, uneducated, and poor. But what makes her much more convincing was her ability to pivot the conversation from him not making her happy to her not making him happy. Because what the mother said was right, it is cruel that she’s sort of undermining his growth to satisfy her desire to be with someone incompetent.

Honestly, my guess is the dad did succeed at becoming a successful novelist and a very successful one at that. So much so, that he had the money to make his dream a reality of supporting his wife and her spending more time at home instead of being away for so long. Yet she didn't want to do that. She is essentially too married to her work and as the dad pointed out earlier, having two successful people in the house caused a clash of ideals.

The mom wanted an emotionally dependent loser of a husband entirely reliant on her and once he realized that, he left. He realized that she didnt really want to be a happy family that lived together. She just wanted... control.

Holy shit I thought Hizumi was killing it when she called her mother out on being divorced, but then the mother revealed an entirely new kind of being unhinged :shamihuh:

I'm surprised Hizumi isn't more of a basket case.

But it looks that she did the same to her ex-husband, she kept him as an incompetent, fully dependant on her.
She tries to guilt trip Hizumi that she is blocking Shinba's potential growth and at the same time, she blames Hizumi for having supported her father (and probably her first boyfriend) getting better.
The mother is gaslighting Hizumi and is putting the blame for the failure of her marriage on her daughter as she was the one absent.

Damn, for a sec, I thought Hizumi was going to school her mama but seems we now know who taught her Talk-no-Jutsu...

Calling it out tho : Hizumi Dad left because even after trying to become better, he realized that his wife would never respect or support him like he did for her.

On a side note, I have mixed feeling about the Theory that Shinba Mom would be now dating Hizumi Dad : on one side, it feels a bit far-fetched and too coincidental just for the purpose of drama but on the other, the idea of Hizumi Mom discovering that 2 members of the Shinba Family took a loved one from her and made them happier than they were with her is my kind of Schadenfreude, especially after that chapter... !!

This was tough to read, we really thought hizumi could win against her mother but her mom is a really good at flipping script. The foreshadowing last ch was good too, with shinba saying the "chrysalis" won't be happy if they're forced to stay a chrysalis, exactly mirroring what her mom's saying.

All this stemming from the trauma and twisted sense of love hizumi gained through her family and relationships. Thinking she's the one who drove them away hizumi's crumbling at the thought of the same happening to shinba, at this rate she'll start avoiding him:notlikethis:

I really liked the analysis page, it brought some pretty insightful info and theories. So thank you for that and thanks for the tl!

Now the question is how will team best friends support the two.:pepehmm:

This manga is weird because how it hammer the dudes self-esteem, i get it , they throw a 1, Is it really necessary to remind them again and again that they´re losers? At this point it´s the women who keep bringing them down
