I don't think he gave up on his future brother-in-law being his future brother-in-law. I think he knows that Himari and Yuu are meant for each other and that the urgency of Himari's teen passion is undermining that future. If she gets it together and stays by his side, they'll inevitably wind up together.

Putting her feelings aside for the greater good will definitely bring them together. They needed this roadblock, or else Yuu would be forever hesitant.

Quite confusing to translate from the katakana since the japanese pronounce the german 'ch' as only 'h' - like how they translate 'Munich' into japanese by using its alternate name 'Munchen' into 'Myun-hen'.

Yes in Japan it's called bamukuhen (or sometimes just ba-mu)
They have very interesting and creative versions of the treat that end up being quite different from the traditional German version.

Yeah, even in my nihongo textbooks they write it as bamkuhen in katakana since they spell the german words as they heard it (sort of the onyomi of kanjis) and those 'ch' usually just sounds like 'ha' when spoken in deutsch, like they spell the name 'Bach' as 'Ba-ha'. They really love the baumkuchen as much as they love the 'kasutera' (Castella cake or the Japanese Sponge Cake they learned from the Portuguese visitors back then)
But damn, seeing a baumkuchen again, made me want to eat some again 🤤

Her brother did speak sense into her but for some reason I don't completely agree to his reasoning. He just bared his motive out in the open. He sees talent in the MC and uses his sister to make his accessories popular to make his town flourish. Her brother saying to give up on that love is very reckless. Who knows when she might implode again given, she is very volatile emotionally. He could have at least said to separate personal matters over professional matters if he's actually a civil servant. At least that's what a mature adult would advise someone on, I think. Then again, it just feels painful to see she's just being used as a pawn for whatever plans his brother has.

As much as the older brother is based, I think it's better for him to just give up on Yuu cause they have no future together. Yuu has no loyalty to Himari and was willing to sideline her from the project they both went all in for, and Himari has no respect for Yuu. Only solution left for him is to marry Yuu's older sister and become his brother in law that way.

I think his point is that her current love for Yuu is getting in the way of her ever actually getting to BE with him. She’s putting her short term emotions over her long term goal. She’s “winning” the battle (her fight with Yuu) but losing the war (getting to be in a relationship with him)
