Forced drama and even more forced explanation. Author just conveniently drops script on support character with no real agency, but ultimately they're just bunch of pushovers dragging out the inevitable.

Me before reading: "Oh well, how pissed am I gonna get today?"
Turns out, not much, since I mostly agree with Makishima here. Sure, what he did was kinda manipulative as well and put MC on the spot, but he didn't do it for egotistic reasons.
I'm gonna be mostly quiet on this one, but Makishima made one verbal slip in this chapter that hints strongly at just how selfish his reasons truly are.

"Good intentions" and he said blatantly that he has the goal of ruining their relationship. I don't care if he's right or has valid points, the asshole button was with Makishima after all.

So what author is saying that you can’t be friends or business partner with the opposite sex.

Yeah no, the whole situation just feels dumb and out of touch. Forced drama with dumb thought process… “It’s my fault Himari is angry”; “I forgive and compliment the guy who potentially just ruined a friendship that has been ongoing for years”…

Any sane person would cut ties with an outsider that is trying to manipulate someone else’s relationships and deliberately ruin them, regardless of their reasoning.

Yeah I noticed few things as well first he seems to hate himari to a certain extent ,secondly he's ready to destroy mcs relationship with himari to make way for his childhood friends relationship with mc , thirdly he might be the classic , my childhood friend who i liked had someone she liked , i tried to go out multiole girls but it didn't work so I'm a playboy now troupe , he basically wants rin to get a bf so he can move on or get her rejected so he can make a move on her

It's literally so fucking dumb, author is dragging this out in such an uninteresting way.

I actually though this manga would have some considerable thought out character development when I read the first two chapters since the characters relationship problems seemed interesting, but all these characters are so overly dramatic and dense about it.

at this point I'm just reading to see if the author's conclusion will be as poorly written and simple as I think It will be.

I continue to like the themes this mangaka is going for, but absolutely abhor the execution. The concept of a girl entering the picture of an established strong male-female friendship and being worried that the guy is actually into his friend and so dating him is risky is literally the second most critical narrative point of this entire setup after the 'what if the two friends start to catch feelings for each other but are extremely worried about ruining their friendship'. Like what the dude explained in this chapter is supposed to be the very essence of the narrative that's supposed to surround this new girl being introduced into the story. The fact that he just exposition dumps this entire setup and how it's a potential love triangle and being scared of being a home-wrecker are all things that had to be told over the course of MANY chapters by ACTIONS of the characters.

In a better-written story, what the dude was hypothesizing - that she would start the relationship with MC and he would then realize he loves FMC and so the friend is royally fucked is actually a plot point that would actually happen and we would see the writing on the wall how this is going to be a terrible situation for everyone.

Just explaining the whole thing away and having some weird 'ruse' to get the FMC and MC to take action lacks any sophistication on the author's part at all.

The friend clearly has his own agenda, wants all this to blow over so he can have his sweet sweet rejection and move on, but it's such a stupidly forcefully introduced narrative too.

Idk, this story needed to take things slow and go like White Album 2, build everything up step by step while everyone is acutely aware of what is about to happen and how fucked this is all about to get. Not just speed-run the whole narrative as if the author has a checklist and just wants to go through it all with all the in between skipped.

I give this 2 more ch and its a drop from me.

He doesn't really hate Himari. He's still annoyed he couldn't nudge her free of Yuu back then, sure, and his ego is big enough to resent her for not taking him more seriously, but that's not anywhere near proportional to the way she loathes him. And he did want a nudge; as he mentions in this chapter, the last thing he wanted to do was stir up the dormant emotional miasma between those two the way he did here, since getting them fired up will likely lead either to them getting together or breaking apart so violently that Himari's brother will have to take action. And he REALLY doesn't want Hibari within a thousand kilometers of this scheme. Not yet, anyway.

There's one specific phrase he uses in this chapter, though, in a very strange way that what he's revealed of his plan shouldn't justify being used. It's a huge tip to his actual endgame. And imma shut up now.

Yknow whenver this sort of drama plays out in romance manga i am reminded of the several people i know irl who have been in happy poly raltionships for years and i wonder why thats so rarely brpught up as an option outside of harem stories.

Like while he isn't wrong, he also isn't in the right. Meddling in their affairs because he backs one over the other isn't justified, it comes off more sleazy to me. While it will turn out well, it is a bit of prick move to try and ruin a friend's friendship for any reason.
