One has a trad tall girl she created that wants to “fix” her back into the perfect version of herself that never actually existed.

The other has a damaged masochist she created that is willing to spend a fortune reviving her sexual awakening.

Why don’t all four live together? This would solve everything!

Good news: It's not your mom!
Bad news: It's the next worst person who could show up right now!

Hilariously my tongue piercing is my only one I haven’t lost at some point lmao
I suppose it's fine as long as you're careful, although it would def be awkward if your partner swallowed it during a kiss XD
Y'all reminded me of how having a piercing on the tongue is all fun and games, but having a piercing elsewhere makes for the one best comedy scenes in any movie.

Yes,they did in fact name the 2002 movie after a line from the song.

-She’ll probably keep it secret from Kurumi, who by rule of drama will likely find out from a third party (possibly Kudou herself).

-I’m most interested to see how Kurumi handles Kokoro
Given Kuwabara's tendency to go in unexpected directions, maybe Naoi ends up being the one to tell Kurumi about her and Kudou's deal for some reason.

Also, how Kurumi handles Kokoro could be influenced by external factors, like if Naoi calls Kurumi's home phone and the answering machine picks up her sounding flirty. Or if Naoi decided to drop by Kurumi's house that morning and ends up using the doorbell and wanting to be let in.

I didn't expect a toxic ex arc, but it makes sense as the next stage for the story. They've both come to terms with what they want currently, but haven't come to terms with their pasts or communicated them to each other in detail.

My hopes for Kokoro improving got dashed, as it seems like the exes both only got more desperate in isolation. Naoi's behavior to her ex in the flashbacks is a lot colder than she's been to Kurumi, where Naoi tended to smile a lot even in earier chapters. This opens the possibility that Naoi liked her ex more too at one point, rather than only bullying her, that their sense of values differed. We are seeing a type of creepy manipulative behavior from the ex, whereas Naoi is more direct about what she wants. This could have led to Naoi wanting to distance herself from another toxic expression of love.

Kurumi in contrast is basically a nice person who feels like she shouldn't have to put up with it when people don't reciprocate. What she learnt from Naoi was to be honest about her feelings and to stick it to the man. The fact that Kurumi's deepest desire is for them to live together and share domestic appliances seems to be very touching to Naoi. This follows the chapter where Naoi attempted to 'repay' Kurumi, so we know she is thinking a lot about Kurumi's desires. Probably Naoi is feeling somewhat fake and inadequate, as she was actually enjoying the fights and such. Naoi has this 'darker' side to her that she hasn't been expressing in the latest chapters.

Cue the ex, who embraced those parts of Naoi and also argues that Naoi ruined her and willl do the same to Kurumi. We may see Naoi trying to direct her dark side against the person she feels deserves it, rather than Kurumi, which will not end well. We may also get some drama with the exes teaming up like has been speculated in this thread - the drama returns.

Ok place your bets, did Kokoro rape Kurumi in her sleep or did she stop right before it and merely stayed closer to her which would also explain the sweat
I would say so except she stuttered, so I bet she did something

Naoi's behavior to her ex in the flashbacks is a lot colder than she's been to Kurumi,
When Kudou said Naoi "treated her like dirt", it can also be translated as "bully". I don't think Naoi ever dated Kudou, just bullied her because she legitimately didn't like Kudou. It's possible Kudou did develop feelings for Naoi, but I don't think Kudou's realized that herself yet, since she spent 3 years assuming what she liked was the abuse. In that sense Kudou's both Naoi's victim, but also her current abuser who is using Naoi's past mistakes to manipulate her.

Also, Naoi explicitly said she quit associating with Kudou due to being grossed out by her masochism. The implication in volume 1 is that Naoi isn't inherently into masochists, just that Kurumi being a masochist seems to do something for her. Since it was implied that Naoi had a sort of infatuation with Kurumi ever since she saw her give the speech at the opening ceremony that spring. Another case of it having to be a specific person to really get anything out of it. While with Kudou, Naoi was likely just venting rage like her dad does.

It's arguable that Kurumi actually dated Kokoro either. I'm using a looser definition since ex is the best word I can come up with to describe their relationships. The early treatment of Kurumi by Naoi could also be considered bullying.

However, remember the early chapter where Naoi thinks she hasn't looked forward coming to school since [insert elipsis] (or something like that). Then this chapter we find out the ex has not been coming to school. I think this is all the confirmation we need that it is the same person and there was more going on than typical bullying dynamics.

I tried to find the panel I was remembering of where Naoi thinks this, but I keep getting distracted by the sadist/masochist panels. I have other things I should be thinking about this morning, so someone more resilient will have to find the panel for me if you don't remember.

Edit: There is also Naoi feeling like she is being abandoned by Kurumi a while back. In retrospect, this might also have to do with Naoi's ex in addition to Naoi's family. Maybe they had some kind of falling out, with Naoi still being invested at least at the time.
