Wasn't sure where to put this, since it applies to multiple different mediums. The Anime, Manga, and Games sections wouldn't make sense.
Well, digital distribution and streaming. Are they bad? Hell yes they are!! You lack actual ownership, and are simply paying for the privilege to watch someone else's possession, which can be swiped away without warning. The providers of the content can change it at will, destroying the original version forever. We've seen it already with services like Disney+. Outrage over a scene, or joke. Even if only one person complains. An actor says something some people don't like. All their scenes gone. And, that's not the end of it. Eventually they'll pull a George Lucas, and completely revamp a movie. If streaming becomes the only way to consume media, you won't be able to go back to the old version. Ever. And no, the tin foil hat is not currently on my head, it will happen given enough time. The consumers will be completely at the mercy of corporations. Corporations who should have as little power as possible, because if they do have it, they'll find a way to screw us over. These greedy spineless companies in Hollywood and gaming which would rather kiss the ground China walks on, than loose money, despite its numerous human rights violations. Corporations who present themselves as progressive friendly in some countries, only to turn a blind eye to other far more oppressive ones. Even outwardly so. Not even trying to hide it. Do we really want these soul-less hypocrites to have more power over us. Should we really trust them. No, absolutely not.
That's my take.
