Now moving on to the original poster of this thread, @araya_tatsuya . Did this thread, say, performed as you hoped? Did you regret making this thread? Why bother mixing politics with anime and manga in the first place? 🎙️
I guess if the anime adapts it faithfully from what I hear, its gonna turn down alot of the tourist zoomers away from anime in general.OH NO YOU JUST AWOKEN THE DUMBASS THREAD
iunno. Ranma 1/2 is an old series, so it has old tropes, like a pervert uncle in the series. sure, I guess some people will find comfort in their (new) sexuality(???? doel what the fuck are you trying to say) somehow by watching the show but I bet there's gonna be more discussion about the direction of the series than the trans stuff.
(As if someone watched Onimai and transitioned. Heh.)
heard there was a renma and a hamf anime in the work.
neat.
TLDR: I am not going to be able to keep enough popcorn on hand to watch the shitshow that is about to ensue around this reboot. I just hope the series itself is engaging, and stays reasonably faithful to the source rather than trying to dumb itself down too much to try and avoid censure in the West. I'm planning on shutting off most of my higher order thinking and enjoying it at face value. I'll leave the social and moral critiques to someone else.
We can hope!maybe we get the uncensored version of female Ranma, Shanpoo and crepes girl in 4K.
they hate ti see white boys making fun of the institutions of the powers that be (back in my days it was DND)this dumbass thread
ah yes the woke institution that makes regular life so hard to live for a het white boithey hate ti see white boys making fun of the institutions of the powers that be (back in my days it was DND)
oh, you took that one seriously.ah yes the woke institution that makes regular life so hard to live for a het white boi
sooo serious man hahaahahaahaaoh, you took that one seriously.
All I want to see is Ukyo in HD, nothing else matters.
From a place where 'woke' means 'I've had my coffee':
I like Ranma 1/2 - it's my favorite of Rumiko Takahashi's works. (See that panda in my PFP? That's Ranma's dad, Genma.) Like a lot of her works, it's got a fun setting, goofy (and frequently one-note/two-dimensional) characters, and LITERALLY NO ACTUAL PLOT DEVELOPMENT driving the installments. The original anime was fun, and the original opening is classic:
Naturally, in 40 years a bunch of things have changed and many things in this series are going to seem... dated at best. SO MANY LITERS of digital ink are going to get spilled analyzing parts of this work in ways that were never intended by the author. Things that have no real meaning and were throwaway gags or inconsequential decisions at the time they were created are going to get picked apart. The entire main plot point (boy turns into girl when he gets splashed with cold water, turns back into boy when splashed with hot water) is going to have folks on both ends of the left-right spectrum absolutely frothing (in more ways than one). Happosai is... a terrible person. And I also expect at least a few folks to get into a tizzy about Japanese appropriation/stereotypes of Chinese culture.
AND THEN, THE PORN. So much is already available; so much more will be created. There are some thirsty motherfuckers out there, and this is going to be like standing at the outflow of the Hoover Dam.

A true fan like myself forgetting the "crepes girl" name... yep, Ukyo Kuonji, one of the best fighters of the series and tomboyish. In the end, who doesn't like okonomiyaki? All I want to see is Ukyo in HD, nothing else matters.
