What's up with that shit show?! Authors really have to always add some rivals and make a stupid triangle out of it. Also I really don't like that blackmailing vibe from that new girl. Hopefully she dissipates into nothingness in the next chapters, really don't wanna see her meddling with our cute group.. Author why, just why?
I knew it'll be something like this as soon as I've read the first few pages and then when they "pinky promised" it became clear that there won't be a date. Guess they're going for the "Oh no, she promised that I'm the only one she wants to go with, but now she's with this random chick, which makes me feel weirdly unpleasant, unlike when she's with our other friends. This must be jealousy because now I've realized that I love her" trope. Sad that it's come to this, but I guess they just decided to go with the safe route and use what apparently works for the readers, which from the business point of view is fair policy.

It's probably unpopular opinion but I'd like to see that "2nd option" win. Now that it's going with that overused trope of rival helping progress things between main couple and probably ending with MC friend, I'd really love to see some twist :p
I've liked the "2nd option" a handful of times before and I would really like to eventually see that happen in well done manner in the future but I can't think of a yuri manga with that development at the moment.

Now overused tropes used aside, I do like the new girl, and with your comment I just realized she is probably going to end up with the friend that is missing someone to pair her with lol.

(My current hope for a story to actually go for the " 2nd option wins" is with the second pair of "Yuri is my Job" where I think there just may be a tiny chance for it to happen)

I think that the problem for Minami and Yuzu is that just as it's impossible to know what Yuzu is thinking, it's impossible for Yuzu to know what Minami is thinking. I mean, Minami is simping and going off into manic fits and the sexual come-ons may seem like part of that. How many times has Yuzu said to calm the hell down? Seriously, it's her signature line: "Slow down", "It's not right to push it too hard," etc. If Yuzu were interested in Minami romantically/sexually, wouldn't it be easy for her to think it's an element of Minami's weirdness? That it wouldn't be a good idea as long as her best friend is crazy?

It will sadly always be like this in manga because editors gotta milk that shit (and less often poor writing skills). Zom100 just had the same happen to it, author is dogshit with romance, even confessed on twitter that he has no idea what he is doing (ended up inserting his own fetish even tho it made no sense, lmao) but editors legit suck the soul out of every single romance manga. Then when the author needs to include it they fail or go for tutorial-rival #7602- yawn.
Mind elaborating on that? What did the Zom 100 author do? I am anime only atm

Never been a big fan of the "I don't love her because she's a girl" trope. Her being a girl absolutely contributed to you falling in love with her. You never get this kind of excuse making with het couples.

Still, I'm not opposed to the rival. Maybe she'll knock a few screws into place for both of our main gals.
I totally agree with you about the “I don’t love her because she’s a girl” trope; imo it seems kinda homophobic, since it’s all but saying that the character isn’t “really” gay (and like you said, it doesn’t happen with het couples). And it just seems unnecessary? Like, what does it even contribute to the story?

I agree with you on principle, but the story needs to actually be structured around that sort of ending. It worked in

Ookami Shounen

, and I think it could definitely work in

Asumi-chan.

I don’t see it working here.
