The Twitter-folk are going to seethe over this one, and that's enough for me to follow this to the end.

Why would they? In fact the manga is pretty left wing ideology. I'm gonna make a big assumption and say you probably thought the theme was anti-immigration when it's actually anti-settler/anti-colonization. Aliens are the ones in power and can seemingly do what they what with zero consequences. They have segregated living spaces in the nicest areas, they control all levels of government, are incredibly wealthy and seemed to have stripped humans of decent pay and working conditions. To top all this off these very wealthy practically royalty aliens get quite literally eaten by the MC.

This is a wonderful statement because it's both completely true and completely useless. The ability to master your own urges and gain the self-control to choose how you react to things is what separates a child from an adult. Understanding that it is your judgement of things that bothers you and not the thing itself is key to being able navigate the world as a fully realized human being.

Do you think the rainbow goblins that get angry about cartoons on Twitter have that maturity?

That's what makes this fun for me. Even when I make it clear that I'm wasting people's time and there's nothing to gain from engaging with me, they're going to still do it. They can't stop themselves. It's like playing with a cat with a laser pointer or calling Berserk a native isekai (which it totally is btw deep down you know I'm right)

We don't yet know about their political status or how the situation of the government is yet in this world. If that were the case then other humans besides these two would have been mentioned. The situation we've seen so far isn't an us vs them race war because, as it seems, a vast majority of humans are okay with the aliens, and even the human workers that we see worry for the alien and even demean Nomamoto after she gets chewed out. If the mangaka was going with the colonialism approach then they would have mentioned either the Earth or Japan being invaded, instead all they mention is the increase in the alien population in Japan. If this is insufficient for you then I must ask the question of if you believe that the influx of either Indian or Chinese immigrants to Canada is Colonialism.

because too many people on twitter are
1. too low IQ to even start to conceptualize it as such. Especially in the west were lefties are viewed as tankies or snowflakes with little nuance given to either.
2. they are incentivized to be outraged as it drives up xitter (the everything app) interactions which means more clout which means more money.
2. they are colonizers themselves or profit from being apart of the colonizer group and to see what the colonized want to do to their colonizer can be very scary. I assume people are crying about racism by now.

anyway this manga is tight and I know the author came from tumblr and I fully expect a violent alien blood covered make out scene between the protags before this is all over.

Honestly, i can see this being a test, and that these aliens are special food aliens used to test humanity, and the goal was to get a death worlder army. The humans that rise up and eat them, pass. the ones that accepted them with open arms? fail.

An awful lot of people just casually downplaying getting punched in the face by your boss for a minor infraction (or perceived infraction) and having your livelihood threatened if you have a problem with it. Or just straight up victim blaming.
