@sedition In addition to what @AnonDePlum wrote, there's also the simple fact that even emotionally healthy people will often defer to "authority." You need only look at how there are many that never question "authorities" like Dr. Fauci, the CDC, the NHS in the UK, and even the WHO, etc.. Add in panick, fear for your loved ones, and an accute sense of your own lack (real or otherwise)... it's not unrealistic that someone would go along with it and doubt their own convictions.

@Lamdin was it really "irrational" though? Given all that's going on this chapter making people angry seems plenty rational to me.

Also, it's true that medicine and poison are relatively the same but the difference to the two is that medicine weakened to the point it's not dangerous to the human body but still strong enough to still have an beneficial effect to the human body. It's not "lies." Dr. Fauci changes his mind about as often as he changes shirts. This is the same fucknugget that said not to wear masks because they won't be effective, only to then suggest wearing them, then laugh at the idea of wearing two masks at the same time... until then shortly thereafter suggesting it himself.

You can take cues from a guy that loves being in front of the camera more than actually attempting to save lives if you want (And, just so you know, takes his mask off as soon as he thinks the cameras are no longer broadcasting), but don't you fucking dare act like you're enlightened when you aren't.
