I usually defend Mashima when people refuse to read EZ because he "copy paste" his characters since to me Shiki and Rebecca have enough distinct design and character but Elsie is too similar to Erza even to me.

Usually I too enjoy how Hiro reuses character designs cause its a nice homage to the previous series. However Elise and Rebecca are Way too similar in both personality and design. Shiki also pushes the borderline

Rebecca looks like Lucy and acts like 90% like her to the point they seems like the same character to me. The whole bath scene i thought it was lucy there cause they were looking and acting the same.

Elise is a little more cocky and less Strict than Erza but still has most of erzas quirks and attitude. Even her tattoo is in the same place as the fairy tail one Erza has lol.

Shink was close to being too much like natsu too but him being less hot-headed helped him not be too similar.

Anyway, I like the homage but i think Hiro should make them more stand out more on their own.

@SSJR2 I think Rebecca is not just a homage to Lucy, but also a homage to Elie, or Reza Valentine, from the Rave Master. Personality-wise, she's really close to Lucy, but the things about using gun as a weapon and how she hold some mysterious power, it's similar to Elie.

Wait, 10 years? That isn't 10 years after Shiki was a baby right? Is it 10 years after she started getting a big name as a pirate?

@Hiss13 I'd agree. Especially after the issues Erza had near the end of Fairy Tail, having a character that gives off that same feel somewhat as more of a Gildarts character works a bit better. She can be this strong ally and she'll likely have some big fights down the line. But we don't need to be concerned with her on a day to day basis like with other characters. Which is especially good when she was apparently as strong as Valkyrie as a kid. I assume she was fighting in that war and that built up her skills a lot but when she was that strong that early on, it makes sense to not have her around all the time as she's definitely going to be much stronger now.

I feel Rebecca is different from Lucy. Rebecca is a glutton and got more spunk while Lucy is just a maiden in distress. Shiki is capable of making sensible decisions while Natsu is just an idiot. I can see the differences clearly in the crossover Heroes.
