Just as ivorypuma already mentioned the issue with fishing is overfishing.
That is why most of the fishing laws exist in order to guarantee that there will still be fish to be fished in the future.
And now this "genius" author "solves" the issue of breaking fishing laws in his manga by having them fish even MORE fish out of the waters already at risk of ending up fishless if fishing is not restricted?
How ignorant can a Japanese be about such important matters of his own nation?

----
Significance of the Licence System

The purpose of controlling fisheries is two-fold. One purpose refers to resource management, to ensure the “maximum sustained yield”, by preventing either over-exploitation or under-exploitation of resources.

@Talh

It was going okay until the stupid understanding of fishing regulation. He could've taught them aquaculture. smh.

A smarter solution would be a merger between the fishing guild and the fisheries.

How did the author not realize overfishing would be a problem? I'm guessing they did 0 research.

I'm glad everyone is calling BS on the overfishing solution, of course they would never freaking implement fish farms as a long term solution Japan need their fish right now

Everyone else is pointing out the overfishing stupidity, so I won't. However ...
@ultraleaf - That's clearly the Loch Ness Monster.

@BestBoy because full-blown reality doesn't fit with elf waifus. never talk about realism in fantasy mangas, especially when elf waifus are involved

Putting aside the whole overfishing thing. If Japan is recognizing this place as a foreign nation, don't they also have to recognize the maritime boundary that comes along with that? Could make the fisherman's association claim on the area bunk depending where exactly it is.

If ol' Nessie is here, I guess it wouldn't be strange for otherworld species of marine life to also have hitched the ride to the island.
