seems pretty gay if you ask me, but i guess since protag is a androgynous spirit of nature, they be pretty much both a male and a female. Although i am not to keen on that whole male-to-male stuff, i kind of like the story, the only problem i have with this story in particular is how they (the story writer) abandoned the whole "heaven/spirit world" setting completely, i mean, since the protag and that dark skinned spirit are spirit kings or something, shouldnt they have dutys to fulfill or things to keep in balance or have a greater goal/purpose that they need to achieve instead of meandering around on the human world? anyways, thats just my take on this whole story, i would rate it a 8.1/10.0

Gotta say, wasn’t really feeling this manhwa at first. However, the characters are all extremely charming as you get to know them, and the feeling it gives is reminiscent of my party in Dungeons And Dragons. Although I was expecting a story either mostly within the spirit world with abstract management of the elements and larger-scale conflicts, this was a very nice surprise. This is definitely one of my favorites. 9/10.

Also, people are talking about inferred gay relationships. The relationship between Trowell and El appears to be brotherly, rather than romantic, and I’m pretty sure the Fire Spirit King identifies as a female, and she appears to be set up as a love interest down the line, possibly (alternatively, there may not be romance for the main character). Is it because the female Spirit Kings don’t have massive anime titties or something?

spirit kings said FUCK gender roles we just vibing, and im here for it.

Love the found family aspect it warms my weak baby heart, esp when it's for a character who was abused in the past... El deserves all the love. Also speaking of El, someone who hides his pain with smiles and a carefree attitude??? 😭 I love him so much

I think the only thing I'm not keen on is hyusen and sherrys relationship.... @K00K13 said it... Its Fucking Weird Bro. I could excuse sherry crushing on him bc teens be like that, but i was really hoping hyusen would turn her down and remain like a big brotherly figure to her, a la dippers crush on wendy in gravity falls. The age difference is 11 years!! For an adult who has had time to *establish* themselves as an adult, that age gap with another adult is fine. But sherry is like what, 16/17 or something? I dont CARE what the legal age is in their country, ppl dont fully establish themselves as an adult until like what roughly 25? If she was 20 at LEAST.... But its STILL weird cause he says, by his own words, that he raised her!!! And he thought it was weird himself!!! He didnt want to be a pedo!!! I had hope for him to recognize this shit and turn her down, but then he just went for it. Its Fucking Weird Bro

When i said "not keen" earlier i meant i fucking hate it. You cant even try to excuse it by saying uhhhh shes so mature for her age tho (which is what pedos say to groom kids into thinking its ok tee hee) because for the most part she rlly does act like a bratty little sister (tho she gets better, but still) i dont know how he could see her as anything else when he FUCKING RAISED HER FROM WHEN SHE WAS A CHILD.

Anyway <3 i love el and his found family. Elrien being fond of the angel that took after him, and subsequently the angels that take after Elrien being fond of her too... That shit was SO cute. We love to see it.

Tbh el and trowell did give me like minor gay vibes ( in that they quickly became such good friends who were so very sweet and tender to each other, i could absolutely see it) but el called him a brother n i was like Ok.... Fair, but like Ok. And referring to the other spirit kings as siblings.... On one hand i get it from a character pov as el never had a loving family before so hes just like absorbing every family figure he can get LMAO but like theyre clearly not to be considered actual family like el and his father, since even ifrit had romantic feelings for elrien... Its not strictly a family dynamic.

I want to see more of lapis too hes sexy. He had a bad start, but his apology seems genuine, and el seems to be forgiving, i think hes not a bad guy and i wanna see more of him... Pls come help el with the humans it would slap so hard be a great setting for character development <3

Im also curious about the wind spirit king.... They've been mostly a mystery this whole time, with small appearance from them or their spirits....

People also complain abt dropping the heaven/spirit realm setting, but im fine with it? It doesnt feel like a perfect thing, and i love seeing gods or godly beings interact with humans and pretending to be human. Its funny, but i think it also presents interesting perspectives from both trowell and el, as one was born and always has been a spirit king, and the other had actual life experience living as a human, so they see things differently... Like trowell calling el helping kai "demeaning"... I find that interesting. Its especially cute since el is still new to being so powerful and doesn't know much abt this world, we get to learn with him. I do wish rai was slightly more prominent here tho, it feels like they focus more on champagne than him.

Ok last thought my adhd brain has after binging this whole thing in one night: once again i fucking LOVE that the spirit kings are inherently genderless and just vibe and choose how they feel, its so chill; and i LOVE they're all so pretty and even feminine. What can i say. Im gay and i love a pretty boy with long hair. This series is spoiling me. El is so so so cute... Ok thanks for reading my 5 AM essay <3

This manhwa can be summed as the following:
Body was put into an abusive family by the afterlife spirits, only to turn out to be the only spirit person capable of saving these afterlife spirits' home. They expect him to forgive them (which he seemingly does given his apathy towards them) and save them despite them showing no care of what he went through.

@pitoumugis This aspect really ruins a lot of stories for me. I'm not quite certain what it says about people that this sort of genre is popular. Who wants to marry their adoptive daughter? That's so creepy. The story literally tells you that Hyusen raised Sherry. People try so hard to justify this sort of thing by saying that the age difference isn't so large or that both parties are adults, but that's not even point. It's like you said, it's about context. It's acceptable for a 30 year old to date a 35 year old but not acceptable for a 16 year old to date an 11 year old despite both having a 5 year age difference. It's not the number, it's the context.

It also creates a power imbalance. Sherry is a teenage girl barely coming into womanhood. Meanwhile Hyusen is an adult man who has a ton more life experience. I can accept Sherry's crush. It's pretty normal for teenage girls to crush on older guys. The fact that they're older and more mature makes them seem cool. Really when you get to their age is when you realize the guy wasn't that cool you were just seeing them through startruck eyes. But what would a grown man want with a teenage girl? I mean we see Sherry throw tantrums and be immature, which is pretty normal for a teenage girl. She's still figuring out who she is, so acting immature is in character for a teenager. But what about that is attractive to an adult? Also, Hyusen spends the entire time parenting her and telling her what to do. He's still parenting her now!

The story would have been better if the other characters didn't treat it as inevitable that Sherry and Hyusen will get together. It would be better if the adult in the situation shut this down immediately. I also really wish this wasn't such a popular genre. The creepier part is that other stories have the girl being raised by the man since they were in elementary school age and they still end up marrying the guy. So gross.

Does anyone know if El's friend from the first chapter comes back? The friend from the human world before El died. He got so much screen time in that chapter that it made me wonder if he was important. I mean, they could have easily just shown that El was all alone. Seems weird to give him a friend and then not mention him again.
