Wait I'm confused. Is this a flashback? Did this happened before the main story? Or was this happening in the present?
It's happening in the present

The Guy had near death coma and 2/3 of his soul is reincarnated to be Elrise, the 1/3 of his soul is dying (needed to completely cross over to his Elrise reincarnation), and everytine Elrise come over to Japan, she's actually collecting the leftover soul, which is why the guy get sicker and sicker. Before he completely dies the guy want to help Elrise reach Verlen and Eterna happy ending.

oh, Niito time to uncover the truth, this is one of the great parts of this title, it shows the side of the modern world
first is Niito here and Elrise is the one person, but while dying Niito's soul gets split into two, one part goes to other worlds, and the remaining soul stays inside Niito's body, and I don't know will it be explained in the future or not, the soul that gone to other worlds went with speed higher than light and go to the past
in other words, Erlise exists in the past in the other worlds, she lives throughout her life parallel with Niito in the modern world, how is it possible you may ask?
it's possible because the moment Niito soul spit and went to the past of other worlds the timeline branches into another timeline now I will address the normal fatto Elrise as timeline A and current Elrise as timeline B
originally Niito lives in timeline A but the soul traveling to the past causes the timeline to breach into timeline B where current Elrise is born
one of the things that was cut is the info about Elrise before she regains memory, it said that Elrise before regains memory and acts just like a boy, Erise who believes that she transmigrated all along would learn that it's not, but in this timeline there's no fatto Elrise, it's always her this is the first clue pointing that this is an alternative timeline
and why Elrise can't come back to the modern world until now, it's because she needs to wait til Niito's near-death event so his soul gets split and sent to the past
you will get more info later after Niito meets with the 'author' I will explain more after that, for now to sum it up Niito and Elrise exist at the same time because timeline got split

I didn't remember the dude living as Elrise is dying as well, in real life. Was he always dying or is Elrise dying also killing him?
Both. The reason he's obsessed with Eterna and Vernel happy ending is that he's dying and the last thing he want to enjoy is their happy story. He almost died because of his illness and 2/3 of his soul is reincarnated. But he succesfully keep alive with just 1/3 of his soul. Everytime Elrise come to his side, Elrise is collecting the leftover soul from him, which makes him who was already weak become weaker and he'll eventually dies (completely reborn as Elrise)

about Niito

about the truth of Niito, to sum it up, he has had an emotional disorder since birth, and his perception of right and wrong is abnormal, which is why Elrise can use hypermana circulation because Niito's mind always swims in the dark, he knows it and he fine with it, he used to it, the current Niito suffer deathly disease and expect to die in a year, so he uses his remaining time to play galge

the part where the girl afraid of him instead of thanking him, it hurt to watch but can't be helped since most of victims mind is working like that.
they have no courage to come out from their situation but has no regard on those who helped them.
not all of them like that but most case is.
another exampie is when bullied person fights back, they got punished instead. because People around them know but they didn't help so they deep down afraid to be held for responsible and accountable.

it happens concurrently, since his soul is basically split in two, the part of him in the real world can't see the events of the game, all walkthroughs and images are blurred out until the Elrise portion experiences it.

look, there is some difference going on mentally, but I'm not sure depicting that negatively by having him act empathically to the dead cat and defending a victim of assault works, tbh

"Reconciliation is a success!"
As she said herself, "You didn't do a damn thing on your own!"

Yeah, the internet would go crazy about something like mouth-to-mouth respiration, since it's so romanticised. There's nothing romantic about it.

Very grateful, she isn't.

Well, he described is as not having a "sense of reality," which is different from not having empathy.

Yeup, he's basically see life as a game. But just because life is a game doesn't mean he prefer violence or bad end, nor does he think of NPCs as expendable.

The prolouge sum it up on his view of the world; good game is a game where they have happy end for those who deserve it.

I'm confused about the untruth itself. Does this mean that in the point of view of the modern world, Elrise kissed Vernel to revive him? Since we know she didn't do that in the last chapter.
