The current state of things could be the result of the authors response to criticism. Before, the mcs role was almost non existent and he was kinda passive.

Right now the focus is solely on the mc and oh boy is he moving things forward. It is fun to watch but the whole aimless mayhem will surely get boring if he remains this way.

Im also not entirely sure what caused the mc to go mad. It does feel like a part of the story is missing.

He got mad because he feels like shit, he literally said that himself. You might think that this is too shallow of a reason but that's what it intended to from the beginning. the MC is gone crazy, and a crazy man don't need any deep and meaningful reason to do things.

@DarkLordAlfie Who knows? It still boggles my mind how sharp a turn this story took.

As a writer, I think the author lost control of his story and he's been free-falling ever since. I know because I've made the same mistake once upon a time because of improper planning. Perhaps the decision to suddenly turn the MC into a murderous psychopath was intended, but the execution was way too rushed in my opinion. The abrupt tone change and the radical shift in the story's narrative is also a major tell that the author's lost the handle on the story.

Multiple major narrative threads have seemingly been dropped and now we've got an underground fighting plot to take center stage? How 'bout you finish the plot threads you started at the beginning of the story first before you jump the shark and start a new tournament and suddenly max out the MC's physique and fighting skills (which was supposed to be a gradual process that he was going to have to earn) eh?

okay author 2Hakk...seriously this is going too far even for my standards. we who stuck through anticipating Ji Tae to become someone at least redeemable eventually after embracing the abrupt change of his psyche here and gradually try to psychoanalyze and even accept the direction of the writing felt like fools now. At first we see him finally give the comeuppance to okdong's bully. it was cathartic and a usual rite of passage for most manhwa bully mangas. but you then subverted our expectations when a new character who tries to stop the carnage gets mauled and loses one-sidedly. Then our MC who we are trying to embrace the change so far, is now acting like Joker and a damn serial killer suddenly obsessed with this random gatekeeper girl who was at the wrong place at the wrong time putting all the blame on the bystander effect on her or some shit.
