Staying for a while to inspect the entire safe area, gather your thoughts, and come up with something.

Scenario 2:
Thinking about hunger and going from a safe area straight into an unknown and dark hallway, which is obviously dangerous.

We would all agree that Scenario 1 would be the most logical and realistic choice he could've made.
Well, of course he didn't since from the start he already had little to no selfa-wareness or common sense for not thinking more than once about asking help from douchebags.

He's just that kind of dumbasspull MC.

Coming back to these comments, it seems like y'all are dead set on him staying in the room and starving to death as a better option. Relying on "what if" scenarios about the water, and inspecting the clearly empty room for imaginary supplies that still wouldn't have helped him against OP enemies.
