opened this chapter while listening to some music and the contents made me feel so bad it actually soured the music and I felt like I had to stop it. God damn it why do I still read this, although getting Victoria's backstory is making me rethink a lot of stuff so at least it wasn't all negative. At the end of the day, she and her mother were just as much victims of the royal family as a lot of other people in the story, and I do wonder if seeing all that will make Raoul view her any differently or change what he had planned for her

We do know that the Goddess possessed her, or at least puppeted(?) her, whenever she raped the imprisoned Raoul. I wouldn't be surprised if the Goddess possessed her more often, or at least pushed her personality her entire life, along with the stuff I'm sure we'll learn about in this flashback arc.
Turning out to be nurture rather than nature?
