He selflessly served his kingdom and defeated the demon king for the betterment of the people, only to be betrayed by the princess (and his believed to be comrades) and die a horrible, torturous death. Reborn of hate, he also discovers the truths about the people he once protected being actual scum. He goes on exacting his revenge on the princess and everyone who wronged him and the people he truly cared for (who were also brutally murdered).
