a revenge manga turned dogshit because of censorship and literal 0IQ writing. Did the author really have to make godly beings dumber than bricks? it's just not fun anymore watching Raoul perform asspulls after asspulls.

I am probably thinking too much into this. But didn't we come from nothing anyway? You ate basically returning to where you were made. That in itself is a chance to be reincarnated. It feels like you are going back to the source.

The reasons for justifying continued existence in Hell are the same one that Raoul basically does to his victims: dangling a piece of meat in front of others in the hope that there is a chance they can achieve salvation.
(This is just what I remember about previous chapters with Saint Christina) In this Universe getting the elevator to Heaven is basically less that 5% of the people who actually die. Most you can hope is reincarnation.
What is reincarnation? Basically getting your identity and memories erased. So... basically being born from nothing... all over again.
In essence, the God of Hell should be more a Sheppard, not an butcher. He can be the punisher of these souls, he should not be able to destroy them, it destroys the purpose of Hell itself.
I wouldn't say it's the same thing, necessarily. Reincarnation, depending on the faith and whatnot, typically has the soul remain as it was when it was sent through the process of reincarnation. In such a scenario, things like dreams or story ideas or Deja Vu could actually be them remembering some bits and pieces of their past lives. Erasure, however, is different. Sure, we came from "nothing," but that doesn't really help sell the idea.

As an example, let's say someone makes a sculpture from clay, destroys it before it has a chance to be turned solid in a kiln, and throws it back into the pile of clay. If they make the sculpture again they aren't actually remaking the old sculpture, no matter how exact they sculpt it. The old sculpture is already long gone, completely erased. They are simply making a new one that happens to look like it. That's nothingness. You don't reincarnate, you are literally dissolved and then the energy or aether or whatever is recycled. At least with reincarnation there is a chance you can remember your old lives, or barring that you at least still continue to exist between lives even if you don't remember them.

Personally I'd much rather reincarnate and remember my lives, so erasure is something I would want to avoid at all costs. To be reduced to nothingness and recycled is to lose my sense of self and my existence, and I don't know anyone (far as I'm aware) who would actually want that.

Edit: With that said, if someone does want erasure then that's their own choice. Just as those who no longer wish to live make the choice to end their lives, I'm sure there are those who no longer want to exist, to think, and would thus choose oblivion over continued existence. Just so long as they don't drag anyone else into their desire for "peace" if no one else wants it.

I don't know how the rules of the Universe work. But if your souk has a beginning then it also has an end. That is the law of existence.
So it either has a beginning and one of these gods can speed up to the end or they basically always existed and in that case they are basically immortal.

I don't want to go into full spirituality or existential terms but if our souls have reincarnation then what happens to those consciousness? Does your future consciousness just erase the current you from existence and takes your memories? If your previous life was that of soldier, proud to have fought for their country, does that mean that you automatically become a passionate soldier in this new life too?
In that case, we don't have any free will. We don't need to punish criminals anymore, we can just say that their past lives are influencing their actions.

This went on a tangent but you can see how this gets more messier the deeper we go.

About your statue metaphor. I liked that, it sounded pretty deep. I honestly thought you were going to make a metaphor about how destroying a statue doesn't mean that it becomes useless. We can ground it back up into dust and make a new statue.

Everything here lands on what we understand as consciousness. Is consciousness something that we are born with or something that we develop through our lives? Is it nature or nurture? I say it is both: nature in that everyone is born and grows through a process. Nurture in that, once we gain awareness we can choose our own perception of reality(our own way to view the world and filter what we like or dislike about it)

This is why I kind of understand why people are terrified of getting erased from existence and why I sometimes compare it to reincarnation: because during reincarnation we have to go through this whole process of learning and nature and nurture, then are we really learning anything through it or are we just stepping into oblivion anyway?

A lot of manga about reincarnation exists and while most people call them cute and funny. I sort of call it a critique on reincarnation itself, because if it existed as we hope it would, then would we not be living our lives as those characters in reincarnation manga? Not all of us... but at least some of us?

They aren't afraid to show people dismembered and served up. But the titties...thats too far, better censor those.
