Why does every character look so damn cute in this manga!? From the granny to the healer lady to even that wolf boy. And SPECIALLY the MC, she's the cutest. I really like how everybody is so cute. Make me just wanna hug them and squish them!

What the light did to her?
Answer: NOTHING!!!!

She is young and simply has no experience and training in magic.
So her mana pool is still really small.
Therefore using this healing magic (which the light obviously was) simply depleted her mana.
And mana is most likely linked to a person's spirit and mind.
Hence depleting it causes a person to lose consciousness.
That is all.

@mnmega : Unfortunatly it will take a while :(
they ignore any problems with the sister, or signs she might not be the miko, and get rid of anyone who has issues with her, like the teacher who is supposed to train her in manners, until something that is impossible for those around the miko occurs, and then they only act in secret until it is to late.

The problem is they had a divine revelation of the age and location of the miko, but did not double check to make certain there was only one child when the parents only displayed the sister, so as far as they know she IS the miko, because there was no other candidate. The lesson here is keep an accurate census of births and population levels.

@LE_MALEM : in the webnovel
the parents are both dead, mother from a disease that nearly killed her before she got pregnant (being a loved one of the miko is a major blessing), the dad if I recall gets locked up, runs away in the chaos of unrest caused from the nation doubling down on the fake miko for to long, gets captured and enslaved in the neighbouring country, escapes during a slave revolt and killed by a monster while trying to return to the daughter he loves (not the MC), during without ever admitting his errors, or what he brought down on himself.

@Talh
Then isn't the correct answer:
Really tired.
Lol
And you know they gotta make it super exciting so people read the next chapter. Lol It would be great if they did something similar and all she was doing was sleeping.

What will eating three square meals and getting good sleep do to her?! :D

@sjmcc13 Yup that sounds about right (as in based on how I assumed they'd act; not doubting your knowledge of the story). I'm pretty sure those priests didn't want everyone to know they f***ed up.

I don't get why the parent's treatment of their daughters was so lopsided in the first place though. I mean other than because the author wanted some drama...

I'm seeing a lot of stories like this pop up lately and honestly I find it a bit hard to swallow. If they were just shit parents in general that would be more plausible but the whole totally loving and doting on one daughter while completely neglecting and abandoning thing just isn't very believable without some sort of justification. It's way too extreme.

@Kevadu it's more common than you think for abusive parents to neglect/scapegoat just one child and treat others differently.

@Kevadu I wrote about this a few chapters ago. The only reasoning for such drastic different treatment for twins would be if they completely wrote off one from the beginning. We know now that our mc isn't naturally gloomy, just a little love made her light up like a lightbulb. So she must have been neglected by her parents from the start to make her so gloomy in the first chapter.

The parents were probably not so well off financially and were only expecting one kid. Having two mouth to feed, they probably just picked at random which child to properly care for and which one to treat as extra baggage. The o my reason they wouldn't have killed her at birth would be insurance in case the other child died from illness or something as many kids did on that time period.

Though I'm probably giving too much credit and thought to something that was probably just a plot point created for drama.

No, the order is like this:
Girl wishes to use magic --> unconsciously activates her own skills and sends all her mana into it --> skill activates and releases a light as a side effect showing that it successfully activated.

She did it herself and the light only appeared as a result AFTER she sent her mana into her ability.
So the light did nothing to her.
