My suspension of disbelief couldn't handle the idea that An could speak perfect english just learning from school. There's just no way
Maybe she watches a ton of english youtube or something lol. I'm also from a very rural part of a country that's terrible at english and I was able to speak fairly well at 16-ish just from listening to an ungodly ammount of hours of english gaming Youtubers. Hell, I studied my engineering degree in english and currently work at an american company despite having never stepped foot into an english academy and our public english high school education being god awful.

When I was 14 I could speak English better than my school English teacher because of how much time I spent playing video games and watching content on Youtube (that was still in its infancy back then, but that's around the time YGO TAS started and I couldn't wait for the subs to catch up, so I went directly to the source and realized I understood English better than I gave myself credit for).

It is possible if she applied herself to it, and given her backstory of going to a different school then the rest of her friends because she wanted a better education, it is completely possible for her to have just studied really hard to get to that level, even beyond what the school teaches.

I love how Japanese books portray Americans XD. As an American myself, I wouldn't say that they're entirely wrong haha, but I'm just so confused on why Japanese people think 90% of Americans are blond lol
Im from Venezuela, and you kinda believe that when you are a kid also, I guess japan being so far and stuff it keeps going even when growing up. But you do believe this when you are a kid, and also depending if you live in bigger cities which obviously you get to know more of other places.

What a nice fellow.
Feels like a complete opposite of what twitter is currently telling me about american tourists.
Twitter hates tourists of any nationality no matter where they go :dogkek: you always disrespect or bother someone and do something wrong as per them.

He seems like a nice enough fellow and tourist but on a human level this chapter is pretty fucking weird. Any adult (and I mean without exception) knows not to pick up school kids on their way home at almost 6pm and have them guide you to a remote place without another adult in a 10km radius and then photographing them.
The author clearly meant well but absolutely nobody should do what he did this chapter. Ever.

Isn't it forbidden in Japan to take photos of other people without their permission? And kids, no less.

Tourist pro-tip: Do not ask little kids to come with you to an isolated place and then take sneaky pics of them. The locals might react negatively for some mysterious reason.
I was thinking it was... Weird he's taking those pics, let's remember they are middle schoolers and they are not even in the last year, they have what? 12~14 years?

It will be my birthday in a few hours anyway, so yay, I'm twinsies with Shunpei!
I know no one asked, but since you brought up having the same birthday as Shunpei.
My mom and brother actually have the same birthday as Shunpei as well. They (and I guess you do as well) share a birthday with Kyoko Hori from Horimiya, and I share a birthday with Izumi Miyamura.
