That isn't at all what I was talking about or meant, I don't know how you jumped to that conclusion. I'm talking about the backbone he had to publicly admit that he liked her like that. Most manga I've read will have their MC shrink "No...! You're wrong!" and freak out, or just blush and remain silent.

There aren't many, or at least that I've read, where the MC openly admits that he does like the person in question.
Edit: That's not to mention that since it seems like she's the more confident and strong willed of them both it's easy to see or expect her coming out with it first. Especially since she already did with the kissing proposition in the previous chapter.
