The concepts are not that complicated though.
Don’t the west also have superstition about not doing things in reverse because it’s evil? Don’t do things you should do with right hand using left hand, men should not wear women’s clothes (and the other way around), satanists intentionally recite prayer in reverse as form of blasphemy, even things in comic like in “mirror universe” heroes and villains switches role.
It disturb the “correct order of the world” and thus things are bad.
The palace layout thing is like a charm through playing make belief.
By imitating the layout, they pretend “this is the Imperial Capital”, it tricks the universe to apply the same fengshui benefit of protection and prosperity to the imitation. The master of the house is positioned as the Emperor in this miniature universe.
The Oni further twisted the idea by reversing it, thus flipping all the fengshui effect into something against order.
Where the original layout puts human in advantage (in card game, it’s like setting the field to bring advantage to your monster type, while also weakening your enemy), the reversed layout brings advantage to the inhuman.
Also see it like this. People live prosperously in the Imperial Capital. But outside the protection of the walls are where the beasts and demons live.
In this reversed layout, you might think you are walking into the auspicious “palace”, but instead you unknowingly walks “out of the capital walls’ protection, into the wilderness where demons lurk”.
Manusya / Path of Human
in Indonesian, "manusia" means "human"
They got a lot of loanwords from the Indian Indian during the Hindu-Buddhist era, so it’s not surprising.
Path of God (deva/dewa) and Path of Hell (naraka/neraka) are another obvious loanwords.
