Okay! If you can feel free to suggest different font! Roboto-series pretty plain and I really want something different!
Lady Almelia feels like an Exocet girl personally.
Serena's font should be legible but have Heart i(s)
Generally Everyone except Serena and Almelia should speak in Comic Sans.
the "painted" font you used for rage Amelia/Stress Estelle should be only for stress Estelle. if you recolor, dont use Red over black, use a Red-Orange but as Madologist said consistency is king.
Thing is that Enchant in fantasy context has a different connontation to it.
You enchant a weapon or an armour, not a person usually. Sure you can take it back to its roots and argue it just means "bewitched" etc, but generally speaking, enchanting means bewitching objects not people.

Sure you can fortify your position on this thing, and in the end it is up to you, but you can take our strengthened, buffed and enhanced advice into consideration.
Fortification would be better then? I will add it then

I was going to ignore this discussion line except for my input about Almelia's font, but i have to get into this.

Enchantment is both Magical Imbuement of Artifacts and magic items, as well as and more importantly the second order school organizing, researching, and categorizing Mind Affecting Invocation spells. While it only consists of Compulsions affecting behavior, emotional state, and personality, and Hallucinations affecting perception, that intention of the word Enchantment is actually utilized outside of just game based settings.

Manga's favorite Body Strengthening/Magic Enhancement/Enchantment/Fortification which is really just a handwave for Qi/Ki cultivation with magic, would actually be a Transmutation+Invocation. Since the previous TL did it as Magic Fortification i would stick with that for everyone EXCEPT Serena. for Serena i would call her spells Arcane.
What makes you think it's not MTL? :smugnako:
Google gets more organic English then this, or fails so magnificently that you question its capabilities at all.

B. Really her name is Almelia? I thought it would Almeria... If that's the case I will change it back, to next chapter.
Many such cases. Like Alice/Arisu or Momiji/Momizi (mostly this one, I'm not sure how it works if I'm being honest)

This is possibly the worst typesetting I've ever seen where the finished product was still mostly legible. You really need a proofreader too, the sentences are disjointed and full of little mistakes. Some speech bubbles are missing critical words, rendering them incomprehensible.

Thanks for trying, I guess? I think I'm just gonna wait until the old group get around to this again myself tho.

Thanks for the translation, but please use a different font. Also please use stroke when putting text over art. It's a bit hard to read in a lot of places.
I'm sorry, but please use a different font. My eyes hurts from trying to read this
Suggestions :
  • use a less stylized font
  • don't put shadows under text
1) Consistency. Switching fonts, styles, colours, shadings and size is annoying, unless it is done for dramatic purposes or to emphasize some emotion.
1.1) However, if the original work doesn't use any such changes, you should avoid any such changes as the translator.

Yes,DO NOT CHANGE YOUR FONTS.

This is way more fun,do not let anyone at all stop you from continuing this.

Because no,the font is easy to read, the shadows are not a detriment in any capacity, and no issues whatsoever with the text over images.

Keep up the good work, more so once you find a victim to correct any grammar, since it appeared to get worse near the middle for some reason.

the shadows on the first third of the chapter inhibit legibility without benefit, and the font itself is bubbly enough that reading is not just a snap thing. I dont think pure consistency is king, but having rules is very important which is what was failed here.

Its why i specified very specific things about the MCs and then the side characters get simple requirements. Almelia is extremely rigid and serious, so she gets a very regimented font. Serena gets a girlygirl font, and Amelia would get something plain like Ariel.

Thank for the translation. Glad to have our oshi Estelle-chan back.

As for the chapter itself, no need to repeat what almost everyone has said.

That’s not how to typeset. Using different fonts for different characters is one of the most common mistakes for beginner typesetters to make. You’ll notice that published manga almost never does this.

Instead, one uses fonts for the different purposes of text in the story. One main font for dialogue, one font for thoughts, one font for narration often works. Sometimes you’ll want to introduce different fonts to represent different tones of voice, like shouting, groaning, mocking, etc.

Thank you for the TL!
Just a little editing would do great, some words are missing and some words change how they are written from dialogue to dialogue.

Thank you for picking this up!
But by god stop using these fonts, putting shadows on text and while this is more a matter of personal preference. I hate weeb/baby speech (leaving "ano", "eto", etc in the translated script). It makes every character sound like a fucking retard.

the main three characters all have unique tones they speak in fairly consistently distinct from the secondary cast. Serena is either being Girly Girl or Walking-Imposter-Syndrome, Almelia is Serious and unyielding or Gay-panic. and Estella is measured or rampant Anxiety. While i could see the brother, princes, or Latisha reaching for pure formality, i would not expect it and Serena and Estella have no peers. And i was also rushing comments before having to travel and take class and i suck at communicating concepts i havent spent at least 70 hours thinking over so its natural i forgot to point out this is supposed to be representative of inflection and emotional state with dialectic implications.

I'm happy you picked it up. There's some grammar errors but it's perfectly understandable and you worked really hard so you should be pround :hearts:

Is there a font that would be easier to read? I was struggling a bit to read it, but it's not a big deal.

Be well :bocchiwave:

Comic Sans MS is generally considered standard and is used by alot of fan translation groups, since its a free license reproduction of the lettering style used in the 90s by Marvel and DC.

there are several "standard" fonts being used throughout this attempt, and while Comic Sans MS is used in some bubbles, the bubbles people are complaining about are a font i dont recognize.

yikes could not read that at all with the font and shading. using a plain font with no additions is what regular books are written in and immensely preferred. reading up on acessible text would help give good tips on making things readable!

Comic sans isn’t great. It’s not terrible, but it’s not that aesthetically pleasing and is cliché to even an untrained eye. There is a wealth of options for normal dialogue fonts; common choices include Chinacat, Victory Speech (Lower), Wild Words (Lower), Suplexmentary Comic NC, Clementine, and so on. (There are of course worse fonts than Comic Sans, including this dialogue font, Manga Temple, serif fonts, etc.)

I wouldn’t recommend continuing to give out “advice” in this comments section if you clear don’t know much about typesetting.

Also, Comic Sans was not used in this chapter.

Plain sans-serif fonts are probably preferable to this, but as it happens they don’t often look great in a manga context. One should aim, in general, for a more handwritten look.
