@Vasqueztion The name is absolutely hamfisted, of course. But that's not the translator's fault, that's the author's fault. The Japanese for Grass and Glass is identical.
You've been around the block, you've seen lots of these manga and LNs. Japanese authors are absolute shit at names. Look at like, Dragonball, where you have names like Kakorot (Carrot), Gohan (Rice), Vegeta (Vegetable) Raditz (Radish), Napa (Cabbage), Bulma Brief (Bloomers Underwear), her son Trunks Brief, her sister Bra Brief, Choazu (chinese word for gyoza), Krilin (chestnut), Oolong (tea), Puar (chinese tea), Yamcha (dim sum in Chinese), Pan (bread), etc. (the Ginyu (milk) force has Gurudo (yogurt) Jeice (cheese) Burter (butter) Rikoom (cream)... )
At least here the bad pun names were in a different language, so that people who don't understand English probably didn't get the joke. IMO at times like this if I were a fansubber I'd just choose different names for all the characters myself, much like how characters in various translations of Lord of the Rings all have completely different names.
