IDK why everyone says that the Elf Dumped MC, theres a big chance it was MC who couldn't handle seeing himself holding the elf back because she had potential and he saw himself as useless so HE decided to split with HER

IMO every skill can evolve, I believe a swordmaster E rank can go up to D rank, up to S with some (a lot of) training. In this case, mapping could become a radar/scan/detection skill, which could make him really valuable, even if not OP by himself. Anyway, forfeitting his life just because of a skill, and not even trying to become stronger by training... He sounds like another loser to me.

The novel isn't translated past best girl arc though, so I don't know if he already meets the childhood friend again or not.

ok, so if he's right, that makes MC useful since he'll be the first, but, unless those god-tier dungeons are rouge-like, he'll be the only one to be useful for having that skill, and even then only until the maps are copied down

But here on manga seens different, it seens like he decided to leave. You can even see the girl crying, totally different fom the novel: "It wasn’t Miya’s usual tone. She left her parting words in a voice as calm and cold as a bell." Super lame if they changed, making the girl not abandoning him but his inferiority complex making him leave by his choice. This makes the MC even more ridiculous and super lame like many others cliche MC.

Also i read some spoilers for the novel and some of the things said in the chapter aren't really true. Some of the higher floors of the dungeon have already been mapped but for lower floors since very few people are capable for reaching haven't been mapped. Also no one has likely reached the deepest floors so its obviously hasn't been mapped.

Also it is obvious that he isn't the first person with the mapping skill and I don't know why the party is claiming he is.

He isn't even the first person to try mapping the lower floors of the dungeon. The whole reason why the party even get the idea of recruiting him is because they found the remains of another adventurer and saw that he had a very detailed map and suspected that he had the maping skill

What? You mean to say there isn't immediately an exploitable loophole where a useless skill actually turns out to be OP as all shit? I'm actually a little pleasantly surprised. I mean, I can still think of a few ways were mapping might turn out to be more useful than it lets on (able to see enemies the eye can't detect, or grasping terrain in the middle of combat even when blinded or in darkness) but all of the ones that come to mind so far are reliant on the person themselves being a competent user first. Hopefully we can all be a little bit expectant that this doesn't end up being extremely generic.

@WhiteWhaleJonas He is the first user of the mapping skill. It is stated in this chapter that nobody knows the full effects of the mapping skill yet and he called it the weakest even though he should've never have heard of it yet.

@Tearsax He has never heard of the skill before and yet he already knows it's the weakest? In chapter 1, he didn't say he thought it was the weakest, he directly said it's the weakest as if everyone knows what the mapping skill is and that it's worthless.
