@sata_ It wouldn't have been unreasonable for her to want him out of the party. She could've done it without being overly rude. She still has a major point. It's a life-or-death situation. Although it might seem rude to reject him, it's by far better than his inexperience and lack of skill getting himself and others in danger.
And this brings up a good point. His skill is still almost entirely useless. Once he makes a map, they can probably travel at least half of a kilometer in any direction before he has to do anything else. During that travel time, his mapping increases by the amount of every single step he takes, not very useful when you have one kilometer of leeway ahead of your party. That means he's utterly and completely dead weight during the travel time if he can't do anything else. And it's almost ALL travel time.
Good on her for wanting to train him so that he's not dead weight, but ditching him would've been completely reasonable too.
