it's funny that mail to the goddess could be snatched so easily
I thought that too. Like, wtf woman, aren't you a several hundred (?) years old "divine" being with plenty of experience and lackeys? And some newcomer in her teens comes and steals your mail apparently without a sweat. That shit is just funny. :02:

As for the goddess being an obvious cunt, keep that firmly in mind whenever Sogou Ayaka (class pres) makes a decision. It will make you want to bang your head against a wall. (I've read the novel until latest translated chapter)

He was sent to the graveyard to die and then somebody escaped shortly after. MC didn’t see anyone else alive down there so it’s doubtful that people get sent down there very often. Add onto that the fact that he was a summoned hero with some kinda of ability (even if it was low rank) and it’s not impossible

plus, it’s just a guess. She’s not even sure if she’s right
and how would she know how many or how often someone is being sent in there? is she the overseer of that graveyard ruin....? must have missed the chapter where the godess explain every little detail to her...

that why she used the word "worthless"....to describe the situation?never heard of someone to describe a scene they watch as "worthless"....
Yeah, that was a strange reaction, considering how the sisters act later on in the story. I'm getting the feeling that something was lost in translation. :thonk:

Interesting that they were able to deduce Touka’s presence, what will they do with this hunch?

Yeah, I'm calling bullshit. She just somehow guessed that he was the one to escape and cause all those messes? Yeeeah, right :wowee:

This is the same person who casually baited Eve into revealing her master is human
https://mangadex.org/chapter/418bcfdf-852b-43de-a938-d8fe8ef66670/10
+
deduced said master can handle human-face monsters
https://mangadex.org/chapter/418bcfdf-852b-43de-a938-d8fe8ef66670/13

And given the news she intercepted that 'someone' got out of the ruin, one that she previously thought Touka would die in given the information at the time.

It's not a 'wild guess', it's only after the event with Eve and this news that she considered this possibility

What signs would suggest someone escaped? A campfire or discarded food? Human poop? But how do they know it's from someone leaving vs someone entering?

Thanks for the new chapter!

"So...Mimori Touka might still be alive?" --- "Shall we join him and be part of his eventual harem?"

Still can't believe this will have an anime adaptation soon (along with the other mass-isekai LN/manga from the same publisher).

This is what happens when you go from LN to manga -- lots of info gets trimmed.

  • The exit from the Abandoned Ruins has a magical orb on the door that will go dark if the door is ever opened.
  • It's in an out of the way place, so it's not easy to check, but nonetheless a regularly scheduled patrol checks that orb every six months to make sure that it's still lit (door hasn't been opened).
  • So the patrol goes by shortly after MC escapes and finds the orb lights out. What happens? Because no one EVER escapes from there (remember, crazy super high level monsters from top to bottom), the leader decides the orb must have just lost power and so decides to just send a "replace the broken orb" letter up the bureaucratic chain. And he's not in a rush either because you know... inescapable hell hole.
  • So, it should end there, but one of the soldier under him is a stickler for the rules, dislikes his lazy boss, and wants to drop some dirt on said boss, so he sends a "my lazy asshole leader... the orb is out" message up the chain anyway.
  • So how does Hijiri get it? The chick is brilliant, cunning and seductive (when she wants to be). We're not told how, but presumably she bribed or sweettalked some bureaucrat into keeping her informed about important news. And in the LN, she only gets the info, it doesn't seem like she actually prevented the same info from going to Vicius. OTOH, Vicius is vicious, but not necessarily a genius, and she's such a bitch, that someone may have decided to not be "the bearer of bad news."
  • And Hijiri's reasoning is "No one has ever escaped from the Abandoned Ruins. Yet the orb indicates that someone did escape from the ruins. And that happened after our classmate (who is a potential hero) was sent there.
I'll say this about the LN: Multiple characters could have been written as the MC -- Takao Hijiri in particular, but also Souguo. Even a few other lesser characters have distinct personalities and character growth. Even the assholes have interesting back stories.

Think about it. She's been having that Bug's (goddess) mail diverted to her so I bet she's basing her "guess" on a lot more than just this one report indicating someone (or something) might've escaped the Abandoned Ruins. After all, Touka has been deading a lot of things and folks (Gartland, Ashinto, Elf-chan's pursuers, human-faced monster stampede, etc.) since then. Events that, when taken individually, don't amount to much but when put together on a rudimentary timeline... a clever person (not quite L or Victorique de Blois' level of sheer deduction based on very loose, disjointed evidence) can intuit that something is up...

But then again... it could just be a mere plot device to set up the anticipated reunion later, and we're just overthinking this. shrugs

Might've been a poor transliteration of "pointless", maybe? A situation can be pointless, a person? Not so much. Or rather, it's rare to refer to an entire person as pointless, which would be far more offensive than just calling them worthless, tbh.
